Hi guys.
I've gotten hold of a D2B drive that will load and eject the disc fine, but won't spin the disc up.
The drive is unmodified and hasn't had a mod attempted on it.
I took a guess on the assembly having a fault and had two spare and confirmed ok top assemblys here to try but no luck.
Therefore: D2B motherboard problem.
Fuses checked (although ruled out due to eject and load ok) and they are fine.
Anyone had a similar experience and have a solution?

had loads of them mate , its either a fault some were on the dvd motherboard or the laser is totally screwed .

This one the laser is definitely ok, I've tried two working units.
Can't figure out what's wrong though. The drive loads, laser moves to the inner position then it sounds like it's about to spin but it's a dull thud instead of the usual click, then two more and that's it.
Oddly enough it just gives the white "unable to read disc" screen instead of the black "fault" one.
I have a semi screwed DMS here too that if I thought it was the D2B chip I'd try a swapover but somethings telling me it's a different part at fault and I just can't trace it.

Swap the metal mechanism over from one to the other drive.

Complete assembly swap Ash, removed the board from the initial unit and transferred it to a working mechanism/laser.
It's definitely to do with the D2B board just can't see anything blown or missing :(
As mentioned though, this is an unmodded drive.

No worries Ash, cheers for the reply anyway.
I take it no one's had a solution for a board like this then? :(
