The new update 3.4, does this disable all modchips or just softmods? Is it o.k. to update if you only want to play backup and do nothing else e.g. wads, etc.

I think it just blocked the old twilite hack and wad installs.

EDIT: it also makes updates on game disks install automatically without you giving it permission.

im running 3.3e and i only run pal back ups on my pal system , dunno how i got to 3.3e last time i looked it was 3.2e , what can i do ? i dont have hombrew installed ? im also running the original wiikey as i have an old wii ? could my wii run into problems ?

3.4 does not disable a modchip. It does nuke the ability to install a .wad though.

If you're only concern is to play a DVD-R backup, then you'll be fine.



Just note that the 3.4 has a term in the user's agreement which is interesting. It's a blurb about now Nintendo does not have to notify the owner if they're updating the firmware. With the 3.4, you can be at a 3.5 the next day without knowing it.

the 3.4 EULA gives Nintendo the "right" to update or disable(brick) your Wii if it finds anything. So, since Nintendo has the capability to detect modchips, they can brick your Wii if you only use mod chips and have updated to 3.4

not really cause i loaded tatsunoko vs capcom and still ask for permission to update but i didn't go thru with it(by holding down power button) and brickblocker took the update out so i can play now.

yes i am on 3.4u w/ wiikey and all my update is manual unless i accept and i dont automatic sign on wifi unless i am playing GH:WT.

I don't think Nintendo could update you through GH WT since you are already in a game, and since the GH network is different than Nintendo's
but if you are on Wiiconnect24, I think they could just update you sometime....


I for see a bunch of kids waking up to a 3.5 Wii!! and the Wiibrew, teckskeen, gbatemp, ect forums will be flooded!
