While trying to boot a backup the console came up with a blue screen with error #002. Why would this be happening?

No they're not.

They're contained on the system update firmware. This is how you get newer games to play on something like a 3.2, not 3.4.

Without more information on what he's playing, 38 = Animal Crossing, 5X = Need for Speed, 37 = general fix.

oh, ok.. I was under the impression that the updates were irrelevant to the game....

Gamma (and official SoftChip) users:
1. Get bailli's Generic Wii Patcher 1.2 from HERE (http://www.gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=77938)
2: Extract the main.dol from the .iso, partition 2, with your prefered method (WiiScruber or Trucha Signer) <--if you need visual (http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=123341&st=90) help
3: Patch it with the Generic Wii Patcher 1.2 (search and remove 002 error, and ONLY for DKJB you also need to force to JP the language detection)
4: Put the patched main.dol into the .iso (replace)
5: Fake sign the .iso (right click over the partition 2 and trucha sign it; WiiScruber doesn't need to sign)
6: Burn the .iso
7. Run the game with Gamma (SoftChip)

SoftChip users:
1. Get bailli's Generic Wii Patcher 1.2 from HERE (http://www.gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=77938)
2. Get WiiPower's toy from HERE (http://www.mediafire.com/?zgin3y24lzx) (you need R2):
3. Run the 1:1 copy with my toy and press - when you are asked for
4. Patch the main.dol with the Generic Wii Patcher 1.2, and place it in SD:/SoftChip/GameID/
5. Run the 1:1 copy with my toy and press + when you are asked for
6. For DKJB force the language to Japanesse

Modchip users:
1. Install IOS55
2. IF installing IOS55 didn't work, use any method above of your preference
3. Some people say this don't do a damn thing, so forget it and try one of the above methods, ok?

ENJOY.....!!! :)

I just copy/paste what WiiPower wrote on the other thread, and modify it a little :D

Thanks to QLeap to find this out and share it to us
B@iLLi to make the GWP 1.2
Raiyu245 for the visual help

I personally have only tested this on the NFS:U NTSC-U and I own a NTSC-U 3.2 Non Modchiped Wii, I could do it on the PAL Version but I really don't feel like hearing the game in spanish

Acording to gemini-saga, this fix also works for Reborn! Yami no Delta
the Master Gaisuto confirmed this fix works for Bleach: Versus Crusade

This fixes NFS Undercover and a few more....I guess it will be incorporated into wigator 0.4 (if they decides to) so no need for patching

This worked for Karaoke Joysound (Japanese). I only had to do the error 002 fix and burn. Too bad there's no way to buy a "ticket" to download songs as it will only work on a Japanese console (passes.. day, week, month, 3 months are purchased for unlimited downloads. Not permanent, but like an actual Karaoke machine the songs get streamed to your system but don't stay there) These passes are purchased with Wii points but I guess a US Wii is hard coded for the US Wii store and the game wants to go to the Japanese one and use Japanese points. Bummer...

I was under the impression that the lastest version of gamma loader has the 002 fix built in
