Okay, here's what I have so far:

1. D2E Wii, unopened, so I don't know the firmware.
2. WiiKey 2 presoldered to a WiiClip coming in the mail
3. Some ISO's ready to be burned and tested.

When my WiiKey comes in, I will install it and put in one of my backups.

Should I take any extra caution with my ISO's? If I have a chip, I don't think I need to brick block them or patch them. Also, what's Trucha?

Are there any steps I'm missing besides just putting in the chip and loading a game?

Will everything work smoothly? Will I need to download and burn the WiiKey 2 update + config DVD first?

The firmware on the machine should be at the 3.4, so ...

No need to BrickBlock them, unless they're out of your region. I always do this just-in-case.

If you're eager to test it, play a backup of an older title (Mario Galaxy, Wii Sports, etc). You can play these games without updating the modchip first.

When you insert the WiiKey2 configuration disc, it'll update the chip's firmware. After the reboot, you'll be tossed into the configuration screen. Feel free to set the autoupdate blocker to "on for all regions" (or something like that).

After you're done configuring, it's extremely important to play an ORIGINAL GAME from your region code. This will properly set the region on the modchip.

Now, if you're at the 3.4 and you want the Twilight Hack, Homebrew Channel, .Wad Manager (for Virtual Console and WiiWare installs), and Orchana (cheat app) ... post up.
