I stopped updating my Wii a long time back (I think I am on 3.2). What if I get an original which has an update.. Whats the best way to go about not updating?

I was thinking that I could simply download an ISO of it and rip the update, and then use this instead, but it defeats the object of having an original I guess.

its not likely that i will have many originals, but I have WiiFit put aside for Christmas and i am pretty sure this has an update.

What should I do? Just get an ISO of WiiFit and use that instead?

Your thoughts are appreciated

I would recommend using wiibrickblocker on your iso. I've used it on several pal games to prevent updates and it works great. (I have an NTSC console....)

install starfall if you have a softmodded wii as it works on 3.2. its a program that overlooks the update and lets you play the game.

The wiifit update is 3.2 anyway. So no probs.

yep, either use starfall which skips all game updates or, if you have a modchip, see if there is an FW update that also skips game updates(eg. D2pro has a new firmware with update blocking)

If the only thing you're concerned about is playing DVD-R's on your console, update away. The 3.3 and 3.4 updates killed homebrew / .wad installs, so no more WiiWare and VC titles on the OS.

You can stop an update from triggering with:
- WiiKey 2's configuration disc
- StarFall
- WiiBrickBlocker to remove the update file on a game
