UMD Shrinker, how does it work?

Does UMD Shrinker (or ISO Shrinker) just remove the dummy files or does it totally remove unused bytes in a file? I remember some EA games have very large pad files that can be deleted. Others have some garbage data in them that can be removed (by clearing the bytes?).

Also, where can I find additional .ini files. Dont think anybody has them.
