I have a 4 year old son who keeps playing with my games! Ugh...ruined three of them already.
I have a softmodded wii since the beggining. I was thinking about using the iso loader software. I'm back in college and I haven't keep up to date on the hacking scene. The last news was the legendary wananiko custom iso that allowed booting from a softmod. From what I understand other people have taken up responsibility and it's coming along very nicely. There are multiple iso loaders now with better compatibility?

How's the compatibility? Problems?

the Wiigator verion 1.3 gamma I think, plays backups WITHOUT a patch, it works almost just as well as a modchip... but you have to make sure you don't update your Wii to 3.4 (even if it is compatable, Nintendo has changed the EULA in that version, and if they target anything on the Wii, it'll be the backup loader)

I know one thing though is that it's possible to update properly without the added security. Some hacklings have made that possible. Does Nintendo like every other company ask you before updating your wii or do you just pop in a disc or hit wiishop and bam update time?

If your firmware is prior to the new 3.4 update, then you must agree to an update. But nintendo changed the EULA in their 3.4 update giving them the right to update when ever they want without your permission.

yes, but they won't be able to update if you disconnect your wii's internet connection.

Updates through disc? Since eula for 3.4 they don't have to ask. Pop in the disc and she'll update right?

not sure about the discs, but definitely through Wifi...

but if you have a modchip that overlooks the update partition of the game, you're golden!

You can install an app called starfall and it will skip the update on any disk. No need for a modchip

Wiigator right? I have to be absolutely sure because when I think of online game play I THINK OF NINTENDO < /sarcasm>
Completely disable wifi and use wiigator to boot backups = epic win?

sorry, missed your response... yep, that will work. But a mod chip is still more reliable!

it tells you right away if the game needs an update inorder to play it wont auto update unless you have you wii connect 24 thing on. You also can remove the update with wii brick blocker.

you can, but they can not auto update until you install 3.4 and agree with their new EULA...
