i was at my walmart and it was so hilarious b/c many folks were pushing and shoving but the funniest thing that happened was somebody pushed a cart towards the crowd and many backed away but people like me instead sprinted to the entrance door. Lol and i only waited an hr and i still was one the first few in there. Not much of my interest was on sale though and 360s in my walmart did not sell out. I am pretty Wii did it again this time b/c i saw many holding a Wii at my WalMart.

Actually they had some really good deals today... Like I got a PS3 finally for only 255 bucks with a special edition of Resistance 2 for free!! Plus we also got little big plant to! :) So hopefully I'll enjoy it..... but at the same time I will love my xbox 360 more so just cause I can get the games for cheap now being I have no more live.... :( But oh well cheap games for me it is! :) Plus I'm thinking about adding some of the anti RROD stuff to it so i can have it forever!

I don't find this surprising at all. I used to work retail and I had the unfortunate experience of having to sift through the crowd once to get into the store because our dipshit managers wouldn't let us use the back entrances. The freaks were clawing at me all the way through. I had to pull several of them off of me and one knocked my nametag off. Then I had to slip through the door sideways to keep any of them from following me in and needed help wrenching it closed because they were trying to yank it open and force their way in after that.

I'm telling you, those sicko's aren't even people in my book. First order of business when I take over the world is gonna be to send out death squads at 3:30am on BF to wipe them all out. Hopefully not too many normal people will have showed up at that hour, but you can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs....

No, you're a CASUAL gamer if you need wifi, REAL gamers know that Cat5 is the only way to go.

I also suppose that as a REAL gamer you buy plenty of games and plenty of those games will REQUIRE a HDD install. So as a REAL gamer I'm sure you've already spent $100 upgrading your PS3's HDD to something about 8 times the size.

And of course, as a REAL gamer you bought yourself a cable for the PS3 so you can actually play your games in Hi-Def, and on top of that a wireless headset because REAL gamers talk to one another in team-based online games.

So damn, it's looking like there's a fair few additions that REAL gamers need to fork out on on the sony platform. In fact, for REAL gamers the actual price of a new PS3 is nearly the $599 it was originally launched at.

It's just fortunate that not everyone out there is a REAL gamer. Some just like to pick up a games console, go home, plug it in and play a few games.

I take it you have never been to Boxing Day sales? Try hanging out at one of the Next stores in Birmingham, my wife and I were there last year because a friend told us it would be fun...it was worse than any Black Friday experience I had ever seen here in the states. When fights and ambulances are part of the days activities, id say it was a bit out of control.

I took a friend of mine to the Local Walmart early this morning, he wanted to camp out but didnt want to go alone, I talked him into at least waiting until 3am. I stood in line for the 360's for him (im giving him my old 20gig drive) and he stood in line for the 42" tv. The 360 and Wii palettes were total chaos...finally a manager wised up and handed out numbers on pink slips of paper then signed each one...that finally got people calmed down those that got a slip stuck around a couple that didnt screamed and ranted but eventually walked away.

There was a punch exchanged in front of the TV line when I had the 360 I walked over to them and two women were arguing over the last one...while they scuffled the cops came by...some other guy grabbed the TV and walked off....I had to laugh.

BTW on a side note...ethernet doesnt give the latency that even the best wifi connection will...real gamers usually prefer a cable if they have one available.

It's so funny to read about these fights. Pretty simple on how these fights start:

Manager comes out, either hands out tickets for items or cuts line off where he thinks product will end. People behind that line that has waited all night get pissed off and cuss the mgr out, or store and also the lucky ones. Someone either takes offense or trys to calm the mad party down and then hell breaks loose.

Walmart needs to be handing out tickets because forming lines and then once product is ready the line just goes to hell and its a mad scramble caused by the idiots who show up late and have no shot at getting item so they just run at it breaking up the line.

For the record to readers who dont have walmart, Walmart was built for the rednecks by a redneck here in the US. I have shopped there in past however after experiencing their poor business practices i do choose to shop elsewhere and use walmart only when it's the last alternative.

the true difference is that wireless has rock solid reliablity while wireless does not. the last thing I want while I'm playing online is to have the connection drop out because someone put something in the microwave.

being wired or wireless, doesn't matter since ethernet has a congestion factor when you add in errors, re-trans, packet loss, collisions and the other 'normal' network factors. same to be said with baseband, token-ring, arcnet and ethernet.

on a preference level, wired is the best way to go, that is one reason i am completely wiring my new home i'm building with cat 6, fiber, rg6 and other assortments of cabling to each room of the house and building a small wiring closet to house all the wiring terminations, security, phone, satellite and other what nots.

Well, for the stupid morons who fight over electronic devices, it should be easy. Just promise some sort of crazy deal (that isn't that great to begin with anyway but that's not the point), on some videogame console or any other piece of electronics, to gather them all in one place which happens to be a big huge rocket aimed at the end of the universe.

As for the console fanboys, I don't know. They're usually pretty irrational so it might be hard to convince them about anything. Maybe if they're invited to a party where it is said they can crush competitors consoles themselves with heavy machinery, they would come in significant quantity to actually fill another rocket aimed at the end of the universe. It's actually hard to manage something with them because console fanboys are usually a bunch of pussies that use the anonymity of the internet as a way to avoid direct contact with anyone that might contradict them. They're in their own little world where they are kings of all that is worth owning, and they just happen to own everything they say is worth owning, how strangely convenient!!!

being brutally honest, neither console is what I would call capable of 1080p. sure, they can present a screen with a 1080p feed, but neither console con pump out impressive games natively at that res; most games have been lucky to be native 30fps at 720p for flashy titles (on either platform).

just like the ps3, the 360 can support native (not upscaled) 1080p. but like the ps3, neither have the 'raw horsepower' to do 1080p native games.

1080p was added to the 360 in one of the early updates and users with vga connections were able to take advantage of it, but not alot of sets support 1080p thru component.

but unlike the 360, the ps3 doesn't have a built in upscaler, it relies on software and it cannot support both horizontal and vertical software upscaling at the same time due to limited graphics memory.

hmmm... pre-release specifications on about.com. wow, you are stooping low to find something that supports you. a google search for xbox 360 1080p (http://www.google.com.au/search?q=xbox+360+1080p&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a) shows pages and pages of hits stating you are wrong. there are news posts from september 2006 stating the 360 could support it and the update was coming soon; thats 2 months before the ps3 was even released. i dont know when the update came that allowed 1080p, but it was quite obviously not just recently, unless you think sony just recently released the ps3.

as kneehighspy has stated, both consoles support 1080p just fine, and have for a very long time, but neither has big name games that can do it natively, since they're both underpowered for outputting that sort of resolution. it's pretty well restricted to a few low budget titles and some of the xbl arcade/psn games. you're either an idiot fanboy or a troll if you believe otherwise

thanks, yeah both consoles are far underpowered for true hd gaming. maybe next-gen they will be adequate enough to support it, but till next gen, i think 'true hd' gaming will belong to the pc side of things.

but both consoles do offer some great gaming. i'm enjoying resistance 2 and recently finished gow2.

I completely agree, the fact that devs have to struggle to get stable framerates is appalling. Just think, if the hardware was good enough to push pixels easily at 60fps then overall developing costs would be so much cheaper to the developer. In fact I remember reading that a huge portion of time is spent making the game stable, of which one of the most important parts is achieving a stable framerate. I hate how so many games have framerates locked at 30fps even though they can do higher, they're only locked because the fr drops at certain points and it don't look pretty.
