First off, am I to understand that all PS TWOs (slim) are only V12 or can there be a PS TWO Slim that is perhaps v9 or v14 etc.

With that question asked, and hopefully answered, on the DMS4 official website, nowhere have I seen it stated that there is compatibility with the PS TWO slim. Following this train of thought, the XCM HD Connect product has the description saying that it requires DMS4 Pro in junction with Toxic OS. So, if XCM HD Connect is for the PS TWO slim and requires DMS4 Pro which is only for V1-V10 PS2, then either:

The DMS4 Pro (and probably lite) are incompatible with the PS TWO slim
or
The DMS4 site has not updated their page in quite some time
or
PS TWO slim can come in various ranges of 'versions'
or
Someone messed up somewhere in the descriptions
or (finally)
I'm totally missing something that is far far beyond my grasp of logic.

There are now 3 maybe 4 diffrent ps2 slims.
There is v12, v13 and now the famous v14 that requires an chip.
All modern modchips can use hdconnect since you can patch hdloader with automans support to get it working.

I would recomend you getting an matrix infinity, probaly the best chip around.

And yes the dms4 range of chips works with all ps2 slims

What about the XCM HD Connect? It claims to be "...the only way to connect an IDE hard drive to the PStwo slimline..." and says that it requires DMS4 Pro. Based on that statement, I'm guessing that if i want to connect a HDD to my (future) slim, then Matrix Infinity would not be the way go.

Also, if anyone knows, does the XCM HD Connect require the DMS4 Pro only or can it also use the Lite version?

you can use xcm hdconnect on any modchip that can load an modified version of hdloader.

Thanx for the input pulz :D

So, I'm guessing the next obvious question is which is better, DMS4 Pro, DMS4 Lite, or Matrix Infinity. Perhaps a pro vs. con list/poll is in order.

And just to clarify so that I haven't misunderstood anything:

1. All of these three mod chips support PSTWO Slim with XCM HD Connect.
2. The XCM HD Connect is the only option for connecting a HDD to the PSTWO Slim.
3. PSTWO Slims are only recognized as v12, v13, or v14 consoles.
4. All three mod chips allow for online capability for game backups for any media type the backup is stored on (HDD or DVD±x).

Oh, I just thought of another one:

5. All three mod chips support v12, v13, and v14 PSTWO Slimlines.

These five points are all true, correct?
