Ok im new to the whole fmcb thing, and I have searched everywhere but cant really find any helpful info..... Ok, so ive done the fmcb installation, and did the dvdplayer.elf and all that other stuff, but how can I just stick a backup PSX game in and have it boot? I patch them with the latest ESRpatcher, ive tried burning to cd-rs and dvd-rs..... cds dont work, and dvds boot but jam at a purple screen... could it be my image? or do psx just not boot like that? because im not finding any info on this.

PS1 games don't work with ESR. I believe ffgriever is working on it, but I don't know how far along it is.
You could inquire or search the psx-scene forums.
Most people still just use psxlauncher.elf on V9 and up PS2. You need to have a fliptop or sensors blocked.
CD's do not work as yet with ESR, you need to convert CD to DVD
But of course you can not do this with PS1 games. It is not possible.

Wow I just found an amazing way to play ps1 backups using fmcb 1.7 and uLe
http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=131438
I just followed his first method as he states in #4 and it worked for my jap NTSC Metal Gear Solid Integral.
My Breaker pro would not even work with it.
Just amazing.

Glad it helped you out m8.
The tut on sksapps & psx-scene got deleted by Bootlegninja... Apparently for piracy infringements ...but it`s posted up in this forum so all peeps can try it out who are wanting to play psx region free on there fliptop slims. :D
The post was submited yesterday and a tab popped up on sksapps informing
me that it was awaiting moderation before being submitted.....apparently it was fine and it got posted ...but today was pulled ...very strange.

Yes its a good tutorial but you would have been better off not too post a link to armax 2.2
Bootlegninja is dead set against piracy and does not allow links to warez etc.
The first method works fine though, and probably would on most slim with fmcb 1.7
Anyway thanks though.:)

The link was not to ANY WAREZ SITE :) Whatsoever and was certainly not a live link.

True, but I guess it was because of the nature of the file.
No matter now. At least we have the method posted and I am sure many will thank you.

put an original ps1 game in your ps2, now power off your ps2, now use the fast boot method of starting ulaunchelf, (by holding a button during startup whater fmcb is linked to) once your in ulaunchelf, swap in your backup, now go back to your ps2 browser, and the game will play....
not to be smart but i think they mentioned ar instead of ule and thats probably what go that post taken down because action replay itself violated sony rules...
not to be smart but i know a easy way to compile with an existing sd*
