Hi,
if i install FMCB on a PS2 will it run on other PS2's as well or is it bound to that specific PS2 it was installed on? Do i need the 'Multi-Version install' for that purpose? What exactly does multi-version mean? I intend to use the FMCB MC on a PS2 Slim and a v5 Phat PS2.

Is it safe to have savegames on it? Anything known about loosing data on a MC by installing FMCB?

Will it interfere with independence hack in any way?

YEs once installed it will work on other PS2 of the same region as long as you do the multi-install

The multi-install is for the purpose of using on other PS2, it will install additional files for other console versions of the same region to work with the same MC

A Normal install makes the mc specific for that PS2 only.

Yes it is safe to have save games and you don't lose any data.

I have used regular Sony 8mb and Datel Memory Plus 64mb and no problems yet to date.

Once you have fmcb 1.7 installed you won't need the independence exploit anymore.
If you still want to have it, then just install fmcb 1.7 to another mc once you have the installer loaded because you have to format the mc to install fmcb.

You have a chance at that point to insert another mc to install it on.

Thanks. It was kinda confusing to install. I booted independence hack to PS2MENU (i had it already installed on MC) and started FMCB Installer from CDFS (not bootable, system.cnf missing). The weird thing was it throwed an error about BOOT.ELF not found. I recorded the exact same package to a self-booting cd afterwards and started it with cogswap. Then the installer finally worked flawlessly.

Cool, glad you got it working. I have never used PS2Menu, read about it but thats all. I usually just use uLaunch.elf to do things.

Well if you need any help down the road with fmcb, configuring etc. just go to the freevast forum on psx-scene (http://psx-scene.com/forums/freevast/).
They can help best with it.
