we were able to swap the hd's with the xbox. well I don't have a 360 yet but the hd's that come with the 360 are removable and are quite smaller. I see this as a problem that we're going to have some sort of a external from a console which may be lame to some. What do you think?

The hard drive is a normal 2.5" SATA hard drive, which can be purchased from many places.
Once someone figures out how to copy all the files from an real xbox360 hard drive, to a new one, and how the Xbox360 knows the harddrive is a 360 hard drive, and is able to duplicate that, then we will be able to upgrade to larger ones.

my appologies. I haven't gotten the chance to get my hands on a 360 yet so I can only go off of pictures on the net :-).

MS will market larger ones once everyone has their 20GB filled, just to piss them off so they loose all their information, rather then having larger models out now.

Well I would think that if MS does indeed release larger HDD's to upgrade to, perhaps they'll make a pc program or xbox program to transfer all your information from one HDD to the other? Although that could cause a lot of problems in the eyes of MS. Or perhaps... and I'm just guessing here, perhaps everything you download is free to re-download as long as it's with the same gamertag?

I have an external External HDD and its work like portable memoryon my xbox... The only thing to do is to make the xbox save on it... or even just loading games on it would be cool!

I connected a 160 GB HD to my XBOX 360 through the USB. You can only play music and see pictures. It will not play any movies or video clips. So i think the 1st hack will be running diffrent video and audio formats on the XBOX 360.

What if you Ghost (with Norton Ghost) the original XBOX 360 harddrive to a new harddrive and connect the new harddrive back to the XBOX 360?
Well, I'm gonna try this as soon as possible :)

You need not buy a whole new unit...you could just buy the HDD add-on....

I know, but I have sold the Core version for €400 ;) I bought it for €300 so I think that was a good deal.

As long as the files are encoded in standard WMV then they should work fine....
I cant see a reason why they wont...
Anyone confirm this?

ive used norton ghost b4
and it clones the partition too, everythign
so if you clone the origional 20gb drive then its gunna restore on teh 160gb drive as a 20gb partition.
so u will have to mees about with freeing up the rest of the 140gb with a second partition.
slap my wrist if im worng.
but nice thinking.
i recon when they rel the modchip it may have the options to format a larger hard drive.
cant wait

are there any news on how to replace the xbox360 hdd with a bigger one?
the solution with ghost sounds interesting and success with it?
have anyone tried to simple but in an not formatted 2,5 sata hdd?
what does the xbox do with it?
do we need the files that are on the original xbox 360 hdd?
the xbox also runs without the hdd - so are the files necessary on it?
if yes, then i think cloning the files to a new hdd and resizing the partition to the max of the hdd would be no problem or? ghost can do all this things.
