View Full Version : Play Backup PS2 Game

Okay I have my modded Xbox, but there is a game I wanna play that's only for PS2. I googled to see if there was a way to play PS2 games on the XBox (doubtfully, cuz if there was a way I probably would know about it). There were stupid answers like "Take a PS2 and put it on top of your XBox and you will be playing PS2 on Xbox." One person said they could do it but they had to upgrade, which is kinda believable since the Xbox is a "crippled computer with a Pentium III Processsor" and if it's possible to play PS2 games on PC, then a Xbox with higher specs should be fine. However, the best answer I found for people who have Xbox and not PS2, is to have both.

This is where I need help. A while ago I made a thread, but things have changed. I have a credit card and can buy things online now, so that would help.

I have access to two PS2's which I could buy. One slimline and the older one. I was told you need a network adapter to play games off a hard drive for the older one. I can buy one, but I am thinking I could just use the slim one my friend has.

I also hear a PS2 can be softmodded using action replay. My friend says he has a PS2 action replay.

What should I do?

hey whats up dude, if i was you i would buy the older/bigger ps2. you plop a hd right in the bay and hook it with the network adapter. the hardrive must be an ata/133 3.5". i have a maxtor diamondmax plus9 160gb. after you get the hardware you must install free mcboot with the help of your buddies ar max (just follow the readme that comes with free mcboot). once you get that going you will need hdloader. now you must get the iso to your harddrive. the easiest way is to put the hd in an enclosure (dont forget to remove the jumper) and use winhiip to reformat your drive. then use the same app to install your iso. this is easier than it sounds. try it out. heres (http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials/fmcb/index.htm) more info on installing free mcboot.

Wouldn't it be better to use the Slimline PS2 since it has an ethernet port built in, you wouldn't need a network adapter.

Also, is there a certain type of action replay you need, or does any action replay work?

slaphappygamer
10-19-2008, 06:43 PM
well, hdloader reads the isos from the harddrive. the network adapter connects the hd to the ps2. the slim ps2 does not had a bay for the hd. the action replay you need says "max" on it and it came with a 16mb usb stick (at the time).

Can't I just leave the HD outside or on top?

My friend also has a "Maxdrive" whatever that is

you mean use an external usb drive? there is an app similar to hdloader called usbadvance, but ive never tried and dont know much else about it. oh yea, maxdrive, thats the one.

It think it's called USB Extreme, I made a thread about it a long time ago and was told to use a mod:

http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=86202

Back then I didnt have a credit card so i couldn't buy the network adaptor.

What I meant was could I use the normal hard drive, but instead of having it in an expansion bay, just have it on top of the PS2 or something.

slaphappygamer
10-21-2008, 09:49 AM
well, i was looking around and it seems that hdloader has better compatibility than hd advance or usb extreme. if you wanted to use a normal harddrive on top the ps2 you would need an external usb enclosure. for better compatibility and less problems i advise you to get the network adapter (bba) and a harddrive for the bay, but you dont have to listen to me. here (http://ps2drives.x-pec.com/?p=list) is a list of compatible hds.

2005-12-06: If you have a slimline PStwo and want to connect a hard drive but don't want the hard drive to lay unprotected ontop of the console, there's a new producted called HD Combo that helps exactly that. HD Combo is essentially a whole new bottom replacement case that let you slip in a hard drive with the IDE connector and power internally connected (external power adaptor) and protected from external abuse. It's also compatible with the modified HDLoader / HD Advance so you don't have to move the hard drive to the computer anymore and there's two fans keeping the HD cool. The installation is a bit tidious and currently only PStwo v12 and v13 is supported, not the new v14.

What would that be? I dont get how you plug in an IDE Hard Drive to a Network port, how is that possible.

Also, do you need a working DVD-Drive. The drive on the FAT PS2 my brother has if iffy.. The reason why I wanna do this is cuz he bought a game 6 times and we thought it was the disk, but I think it's the drive (his PS3 reads it fine). Do I only have to use the Action Replay disk once to install HD loader and form there on I can just run everything off the hard drive?

slaphappygamer
10-22-2008, 12:37 AM
ive never hread that method before. then again, ive only had a fatty ps2. after the installation and setup of free mcboot everything would be done through usb sticks of ftp to the memory card, instead of disc.

The adapter has both ethernet and ide connections. This method has been around quite awhile...

No just because you put a HDD and a network adapter on you fat ps2 doesnt mean that it is modded. You will need the HD loader .elf and a method to boot it. Free McBoot is pretty useful if you are trying to set this up. There are several other methods, do some research and see what works for you.

this (http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials/fmcb/en_armax.htm) should get you started. once you get your ps2, hd, and armax together.

Why did Sony put an IDE thing on the ethernet adaptor? To play music?

but then once they realised people were using it to pirate games (it should be used to backup, but there are people that do, and Sony assumes letting people backup games means that they will pirate, they put DRM cuz they dont trust us and they violate our rights to try and protect theirs) they just put a built in ethernet port in the slim and no IDE?

I have a slim PS2, model number SCPH-77001. I also want to play back up games off a hard drive because I have no solder skills and really am uncomfortable with messing wiht the console.

The SlimPS2 already has a network adapter jack on teh back and I have an external Network-capbale/USB Hard drive in its own enclosure...Buffalo 250GB drive.

Can I just connect a network cable to the drive and the and use HDLoader to play ISO backups of games from the HD? Is that all that is required? What if I connect the drive via USB instead of network?

Sorry for the noob questions, I just really want to get this working. Where do I find the loader software and is that all I need?

Thanks for whoever can help.

No for the network.
Ok for the USB.
But USB advance which loads iso from usb hdd is real slow, long long loading time and game compatibility is about 50%.

I think you still need to read the Action Replay Disk, so you still need the DVD-Rom drive, even thought it's just for like 5 seconds

So I can put any IDE hard drive in it and it will work?

Do the games have to be converted or anything, or is like Xbox, you copy the files from the disk to a folder?

Can I use a computer to put stuff on. So let's say I am running out of space and want to take off Game A, can I go on my PC and copy it to my computer's hard drive (or a USB hard drive plugged into my computer) and then lets say when I get more space back I can put it back on?

Also if I want to backup a game. so let's say the IDE hard drive I am using with my PS2 becomes corrupted, I can just get a new drive and copy the game to it from my backup?

YOu will want to stay away from Western Digital IDE drives, as they require one to modify the network adaptor.
I use Maxtor or Seagate myself.

Best way to transfer games to PS2 hdd is using Winhiip 1.7.6
Check out this guide. (http://www.console-exploits.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9236)

Winhiip has a Utility if your drive becomes corrupted etc. called Scan / Repair PS2 Drive

It explains how to use in the guide.

DO I have to copy the whole drive and once, or can I copy individual files folders? How are they stored, as ISOs or the files that are in the ISOs?

You can copy the whole drive at once, or you can extract individual games to a specified folder or drive.

Basically when Winhiip 1.7.6 installs the IS0, it creates a new partition for each game in a different format.
Here is a picture, using uLaunch.elf to browse the hdd.
Check down in the lower right corner to see how the games are named on the hdd.
http://s165.photobucket.com/albums/u68/McBeth_CeX/Tutorials/HDDMan3.jpg

For the best image it is best to use Imgburn to first make an ISO of your Original, then copy it to hdd using winhiip.
Yes burned games can be transferred to hdd via Winhiip
Again it is best to make an ISO first using imgburn of the burned game.

Here is a Winhiip guide with pictures

You will connect the hdd to your PC via one of these methods to transfer games and use Winhiip 1.7.6

Are there any auctions on ebay that include the Network Adaptor and Action Replay together so I know I am getting the right things I need? I cannot contact my friend to get his Action Replay, and it might be the wrong one, so I will probably just buy one.

Also, if I would have just the Network Adapter and a hard drive what would I be able to do? If Sony didn't want people playing games off the Hard Drive, why did they add an IDE port on the adapter?

I doubt that there are auctions including both. I have never seen any.
I see one auction (http://cgi.ebay.ca/Action-Replay-Max-Cheat-with-16MB-Memory-Card-PS2_W0QQitemZ250289844497QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Vid eoGames_VideoGameAccessories_VideoGameAccessories_ JN?hash=item250289844497&_trksid=p3286.m63.l1177)for the action replay max with media player, but I think its way high priced.

You can buy Swap Magic 3.6 for way cheaper than that.
Link (http://www.gocybershop.ca/customer/home.php?cat=15)

With just a Network adaptor , hdd and FAT PS2 , you wouldn't be able to do anything.
Sony came out with a Original 40GB hdd made specifically for certain games like FFXI. It actually came preinstalled with the game.
Then there were later games that used the hdd.

Now of course later people came out with Hdadvance and hdloader that could use Non-Original Sony hdd to play games from.

I agree using hdloader has way better compatibility

Well with Swapmagic you can either use it too install fmcb 1.7 which then will allow you too boot hddloader 0.8c from your mc.
http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials/fmcb/en_swapmagic.htm

Or you can just use it too launch applications from any usb device.

Loading your own programs from USB Mass Storage Devices:
1. Rename your program to SWAPMAGIC.ELF
2. Create a folder named SWAPMAGIC in the root directory of your USB Mass Storage
Devices and then put the SWAPMAGIC.ELF file in the folder.
3. Plug-in the USB Mass Storage Device to the USB port of the PS2. And then boot your PS2
with SwapMagic3.6. If the program (SWAPMAGIC.ELF) is found in "../SWAPMAGIC/", it
will be launched automatically.

Store multiple programs in the USB Mass Storage Devices:
1. You can put maximum 4 files in the SWAPMAGIC folder at the same time. But, you need
to rename those programs to SMBOOT0.ELF, SMBOOT1.ELF, SMBOOT2.ELF and
SMBOOT3.ELF respectively.
2. Plug-in the USB Mass Storage Device to the USB port of the PS2, and then boot your PS2
with SwapMagic3.6.
3. When the title screen appears (you will see 2 options Load Program and Video Mode on
the screen), you can press:
A. "UP+L1" buttons to load SMBOOT0.ELF
B. "UP+L2" buttons to load SMBOOT1.ELF
C. "UP+R1" buttons to load SMBOOT2.ELF
D. "UP+R2" buttons to load SMBOOT3.ELF

So if I buy a Swap Magic disk and a Network Adaptor (and hard drive) I will have all I need (besides the PS2)?

About the memory card, will I need it afterwards? Is it possible to save games ot the hard drive? Will I need the DVD drive too? I don't trust the DVD Drive on my brother's PS2, San Andreas would stop (sometimes the radio would still play), but to load Swap Magic it should be fine as it reads less than if a game was played off a disk.

Yes thats all you would need.

Yes once fmcb 1.7 is installed, you would still need the memory card as that is what makes it boot to the Sony Screen so you can select your applilcation such as hdloader.

Okay so does the PS2 firmware start fmcb off the memory card, and you only need the AR Max/AR to put it on the memory card, and not to start it?

So in a way the Memory Card is like a Homemade modchip (as it bypasses the firmware, not sure about the BIOS) but it's mod soldered in or attached. Maybe like a Magic Memory Stick for PSP?

Yes very easily as you will have uLaunch.elf on the memory card as your BOOT.ELF

You will then launch it, browse to usb device and be able to install on new memory card.
At the point of clicking INSTALL, it give you the chance to remove the memory card and stick in the one you wish to FORMAT and INSTALL on.

Do HDLoader and HDAdvance use different formats or the same, that is if I have a game on there can I use either HDLoader or HDAdvance or are can these games only be opened by one and not the other?

I put the hard drive and network adapter in the PS2 and the HDAdvance 3.0 disk in and the PS2 acted like there was no Disk in the drive. However the PS2 reads my DVD Video Fine. I have not tried a PS2 disk yet....

Try to clean your ps2 laser with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol.

Just follow the cleaning part, don't do the adjusting pots on that page.

Try to clean your ps2 laser with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol.

Just follow the cleaning part, don't do the adjusting pots on that page.

Is like HDLoader a version of HDAdvance that runs off the Memory Card instead of a Disk? I don't think the laser is damaged since it plays DVD Video... I will try a PS2 game..

Yes hdloader is just the cracked version basically of HdAdvance

There is a Retail Hdloader also.
They will all load games of the hdd using the Network adaptor.

Ok , but your laser may need cleaning if it is not reading the disk.

Okay I tried again and it started but said that no HDD Hard ware was detected. But I think I had it in wrong, I think I had the HD connected to the Network fine, but not the Network Apdapter to the Expansion. I tried again put didn't push in the HD as far and pushed the adapter in father and it worked. I tried Guitar Hero but only got a black screen so I tried Prince of Persia and it said there was no dualshock controller and to insert one and press start. There was a controller (how else did I select it from HDAdvance?) so I just pushed start and it worked! Okay so now I am ready to begin with FMCB...

PS I prefer to use the message board (as it helps everyone and doesn't eat up my mailbox) but I will clear it when I get time/

Also, is there a way I can put content on the Hard Drive via a network like I can with my Xbox? Or Do I have to constantly pull out the drive? (Atleast I have an IDE to USB Adapter so I don't have to open and reboot my PC.

I can't remember if Guitar Hero works or not, or you may need to Press SELECT while the game is highlighted and enable mode 3, the 3rd one down from the top.
Then Press SELECT again to save configuration.

You can figure the games out by checking some compatibility sites.

Ok thats good.
SMS will play movies from the USB, Disc Drive, over the network and from the hdd

SMS tutorial: http://www.sksapps.com/sms/en/
And here: http://psx-scene.com/forums/official-sms-forums/39760-how-to.html

I don't use it, so that is why i am giving you the guides to it. I have way too many DVD players, so no need for it.

As for the uLaunch, you will still need to copy the BOOT.ELF from the latest uLE download and place it in the FMCB INSTALL folder.
4.30 is the latest one: http://sksapps.com/index.php?page=launchers.html

These files can also be launched during boot-up with the button presses of the default CNF:

* BOOT.ELF ( R1)
* ESR.ELF ( R2)
* HDLOADER.ELF ( L1)
* SMS.ELF ( L2)
* FMCB Configurator ( START)

uLaunch can manage files on mc, hdd, CDFS(your drive) and USB

Tutorial below shows what all it can do.

Oh sorry, I hadn't even paid attention to the version etc.

Here is the latest link with a CD or DVD version, plus the just the ELF file

http://www.psx-scene.com/forums/official-ulaunchelf-forums/37242-unofficial-launchelf-v4-30-a.html

The BOOT.ELF (also uLe) is needed in the INSTALL, because once installed to mc, you can then use it on the mc to browse or change files.
I know its seems redundant, but the uLaunch you have on your hdd is launched by HDAdvance, whereby the other will be on the mc and can be launched with shortcut button on ps2 controller or through the Sony menu.

Its a basic file manager for the PS2, so its basically just a good idea to have it on the mc in case anything goes wrong.

Its just recommended by the guys who made these programs.

To install fmcb you only need to have all your files ready on the USB drive like in the tutorial here.
http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials/FMCBv1.8.html

http://www.windzdirect.com/FileZ/install_.jpg

You then just launch your uLaunch off the hdd, and then using FILEBROWSER, you then look for MASS:/ and browse to the FREE_MCBOOT.ELF, once that is launched you format the mc, then do the Multi-Install if you wish to use on other PS2's, or just do NORMAL install if you only have one type of PS2.

Even if you are installing just for your friend, you need to do the Multi-Install so it will work on his PS2.

If your just using the mc yourself, then no you don't.

Funny now Xbox can do it but PS2 can't since they are made by the same company, and since the PS2 can play original PS1 game disks...

But I have my PSP, although a hard drive is bigger than a memory stick...

They can only be run thru the PSX emulation. This emulation cant be restarted from the PS2 hardware once the console has loaded the ps2 modules.

Is there a way not to load the PS2 modules? Like an alternate OS or something? I was just wondering, how can the PS2 can load original PS1 disks after the PS2 modules are loaded?

Yes its nice the psp can run PS1 games. I run mine on there also.

The PS2 can play PS1 original and Backups, it just can't and never will be able to play them off the hdd.

It also has to do with the Structure I believe of the hdd. There are reasons i just don't really know the technical part of it.

Kind of like with fmcb 1.8, you can't map elf files from the hdd to load directly from Sony Browser, yet you can using uLaunch.
Not sure if that will ever become a reality.

But ffgriever is working on a ps1 emulator for the PS2. It is still in early beta and only selected few peopel are testing it for him.

It is nowhere near ready to release to the public. That is the last I heard around the end of January. I hear it will be some time yet to come.

Well there are different ways to play PS1 backups on a PS2.

If you have a V9 PS2
You can just use the uLaunch.elf to play PS1 backups.

Or also for V9 and Up, you can use psxlauncher.elf

So when (if) this emulator comes out, it will probably load the games off USB, right?

I really not sure at all how the emulator will work.

I put ELF files in my _boot folder on the PS2 HDD.
I then map them to the shortcut keys in uLaunch.elf so I can launch them.
http://s165.photobucket.com/albums/u68/McBeth_CeX/Tutorials/skin1.jpg
I just used uLaunch.elf, then copy file, then Select HDD, then browse to the _boot partition.

I also created my own Partition, use Ulaunch.elf

So yes using the uLaunch tutorial (http://www.console-exploits.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9646)you can keep files stored on the hdd.

I have access to two PS2's which I could buy. One slimline and the older one. I was told you need a network adapter to play games off a hard drive for the older one. I can buy one, but I am thinking I could just use the slim one my friend has.

Personally I'd focus on modding the slim. Sony has revised so many things that have improved it's relaiablity, and I am not a fan of HDD loader personally.

Lots of useful info here, but I still have a few questions.

The FMCB page is great, and it has instructions for Codebreaker (which I happen to already have), but the warnings at the top worry me:

Note: Not all USB Thumb drives/hard drives/storage devices are compatible with the listed software. Also, on SCPH-7500x and newer, Sony has made changes to the USB hardware/software which can cause inoperability of the listed software with the majority if not all of USB storage devices.

Beware! Sony has created a new BIOS in the SCPH-9000x series PS2 models that negate any OSDSYS update using the DVD player hack. This means that after BIOS revision 230, Playstation 2 units will not work with FMCB!

Is it hard to find PS2 models older than 7500x (I don't currently own a PS2, and I figured it would be stupid to buy one before researching)? I'd rather not get one on eBay or similar. I'd get one online if I had to, I'd prefer to get one locally (the salespeople are usually nice and let one search the inventory for an older model).

Also, just to confirm, with a slim model, I'd need the following hardware:
A compatible IDE HD for storing games/apps (there's a nice link on the first page)
A network adapter to connect it to the PS2
Some enclosure for the HD because the slim has no bay
A USB to IDE cable to get games from PC to IDE HD (I'm on a laptop with no IDE ports)
A cheat device that will work with FMCB (I have Codebreaker)
Some USB drive for copying FMCB to a PS2 memcard (I have one already)

Then I'd install FMCB.

After that, I'm lost because there is so much info and much of it is outdated or conflicting with other sources (I've been researching for a few hours now).

TIA for any help.

I have Swap Magic and a slim PS2. However, the DVD loading SM disc got broken, so I only have the CD loading disc. Now, I've been reading about making a MC exploit CD-R that will load using the SM cd loading disc, and then an actual PS1 game (which I have) and then I can run ELF files directly from the MC (or a HDD). Now, what I want to know is, using this exploit method of being able to launch ELF files from my MC/HDD, can I install said exploit, and then load a copy of the SM DVD loading disc's ELF file on there, boot into the exloit menu with the PS1 game, launch the ELF and then play my DVD backups as if I was actually using the SM dvd disc?

Ironic we use Swap magic in case a game disk breaks, but then the swap magic disk itself breaks.

You could use that CD to install Free MC boot and then use HD Loader. You just need to get an elf for ulaunch elf to run the FMCB installer and run it...

Free MC Boot is the program run off the memory card. Oh you don't need uLaunch elf. When I did mine I used HD Loader which ran stuff off the hard drive, so for me to run the elf installer for free MC boot I had to run uLaunch self off the hard drive and once I ran uLaunch off the hard drive I could run the ELF off my USB drive, but since you have action replay you can just run the ELF

The disc itself can not launch ELF files, no. But, it can run homebrew CDs that can install exploits onto the MC, which in turn can run ELFs either right off the MC or from a HDD. As long as I can run an ELF that will allow me to boot a backup DVD without spending any more money or being overly complicated, I will be happy.

Another guide I am looking for is how to use a USB HDD with the slim PS2 for this purpose, as I have the slim one and it of course doesn't have the slot to use the official PS2 hdd.

I wasn't sure. I mean, yes, I do have the ability to install exploits to my MC, but I have not tried it yet (I am waiting for my friend to return my PS1 games and lend me a blank CD-R to try it out).

The only thing needed to install the exploits, was a way to run non official discs on the PS2, which is what I would use my CD loading Swap Magic disc for. Burn the exploit installer, boot it using Swap Magic, install exploit. Pop in PS1 game to actually utilize the exploit. Select the DVD loading ELF and pop in my backup DVD disc and run it. I was gonna use Cogswap, but I found that you need some really funky official games and several swap times to use it, and it's just too much work. But I have a copy of the Swap Magic DVD loader, and if I can use an exploit to boot that from the MC or a hard drive, I will use that to load my DVD games, instead of purchasing another set of discs. Do you understand what I mean?

Yeah, I was thinking about doing that as well. But I mean, I already have a lot of my backups on a disc, so using a hard drive isn't a priority for me right now. I just know people used it like in 2005 with winhiip 1.7.3, so the newer 1.7.6 should work also.

As for detecting the hdd, it is the winhiip program itself that detects the drive as once its formatted for PS2 you don't see it in windows or linux.

just the winhiip program sees it.

One would think that if Linux didn't see the drive Wine wouldn't either. I wonder if Wine has some kinda kernel or something cuz how could it communicate with the drive? When a drive is formatted with a file system Linux recognizes it just mounts it and then wine can access it's path like any other Linux path.

Well I think it has more to do with it being a PS2 hdd.

For example , once you format a hdd to use with PS2, then windows does not see the drive, only Winhiip does.

That is why I think the "wine" program works, but if it doesn't then just use the Vmware that you are using.

Hi,

i'm fairly new to the ps2 scene and have been looking at interest at the Memor32 memory card. I want to run backups, mainly ps2 but perhaps the odd ps1 game, from an external usb hdd.
i have a slim line scph-70003 version ps2.

Would this suit my purposes then?

thanks in advance

@ windrider: but WinHiip goes through Windows

@pin The slim PS2 cannot take a hard drive so you would have to use DVDs

There is something called USBExtreme but I don't think it has good compatibility.

Yes the memor32 is good for your ps2 and would allow you to play off USB hdd, by copying USBAdvance.elf to your memor32 .

The memor32 allows you too load ELF files onto it.

You can't run ps1 games from a USB drive, but you can use an elf called psxlauncher to run ps1 backups.

You would need to block the sensors on your PS2 though.

How can I play PAL games on this NTSC PS2?

How can I play PAL games on this NTSC PS2?

Its real simple if you have a HDTV, most usually support PAL.

I use that and a PS2 component cable.

Otherwise you need to patch the ISO so you don't have black & white, or scrolling lines.

Some people say they still need to patch the ISO first though.
This guide (http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/732415) explains how to do that

Here is another thread (http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/121718)on how to play PAL games on a normal TV. It also explains which games come with a 50/60 hertz selector.

I cant just play the original? I have an HDTV, do I have to patch it?

Well thats the problem with the PS2.. It will not play imports unless you have a modchip.

It is region specific.

So in order for you to play the PAL game, you need to back it up using imgburn into an ISO image.

Then just patch for ESR and try it on your HDTV

It may work fine and not need the PAL to NTSC patching. If it doesn't display properly, then you will also need to do that patch as well and reburn.

Does the modchip have hardware that can use PAL? I thought it was just like a software thing that blocked it, like with burned games just cuz Sony was being a douche.

Most modchips will play PAL games on NTSC PS2 with no problems.

What they do is fix color, and force the PAL to work and as long as the TV is compatible.

There are a lot of PAL games out there that come with 50/60 hertz selector, or once in the game, have a place in the "Options" to change screen size.

So this is why most backup the import game, then patch it too play on the PS2.

See at least the PS3 is region free but you still need a compatible TV.
But its drawback is you can't play backups.

Is there a software way to fix to color and force it to work?

Nope the only way is to follow the guides I posted in Post #111

Just patching the images and burning them.

How come you don't have to patch them with a Modchip?

How come you don't have to patch them with a Modchip?

Because that is built in the chip or firmware of the chip.

That is why modchip is usually always the best way to go if you want to enjoy everything easy on the PS2.

Here is an example of modbo 4.0 (http://www.quantronics.com.au/products/ps2/modchips/modbo-4.0-ps2-modchip-v3--v16_ps2-modbo.html)and what it can do.

Currently using the latest FreeMcBoot version with patched ISO games and it works a treat :)
I have a couple of FreeMcBoot cards if anyone wants them (already PRE-Installed) - let me know.
