View Full Version : Rare fuel Killer Instinct 3 rumors
You may remember early rumors that stated Rare was working on a new Killer Instinct title that will be exclusive to the Xbox 360. Well, these rumors have been fueled after Killer Instinct characters were spotted in Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise. <b>Update:</b> Piņata Vision Card featuring the characters can be seen below.

I know in previous posts I have said that fighting games get boring and repetitive but I would really like to see Killer Instinct 3 come out for the XBOX
Although I didn't know Killer Instinct 2 was out.
I enjoyed playing Killer Instinct 1 on the Nintendo 64 and would like to see it on the XBOX
Either Killer Instinct 3 on the XBOX360 or Killer Instinct 1 on the XBOX Live Arcade would be nice
I know it will probably never happen but I'm just saying it would be nice.

Well, I couldn't get into Street Fighter either, but that was because I got owned in pretty much every game ;)
But I just can't understand why MS would bother with KI. As the 360 already has secured all of the best fighters, DoA, Street Fighter, Tekken, Virtua Fighter, MK..... what's the defining aspect of KI that would give it a place in that lineup?
That's why I call BS on the rumour.

I dont think its BS. Microsoft do own rare and they aint gonna be able to release a new donkey kong country.

True. But I still struggle to see where it would fit in.
That said, if they find the right sales window, then maybe it could make a mark.
Or could it be that they are thinking of releasing KI2 in XBLA?

I heard this and this was the reason that 007 Goldeneye couldn't come out for the XBOX 360 because Nintendo wouldn't allow it.

Nah Nintendo sold there 49% of Rare to MS and the 2 founders sold there 51% to MS, so now Rare is owned 100% by MS (and the founders have left the company).
Goldeneye was made by Rare so they have rights to it
Goldeneye was published by nintendo so they have rights to it
James Bond license is currently owned by Activision so they have rights to it
MS own Rare so they have rights to it
So basically all of em have to agree to let it be released on both XBLA and VC (would have to come out on both). Nintendo are the only ones saying no, I doubt they want one of the best N64 games released on an Xbox. One day they may back down and go for it (it's already been completed for XBLA) but I wouldn't hold your breath.

Thanks D4rkwind and I know it has already been completed. I've seen the screenshots. I have a copy of them in my inbox and they look pretty sweet.

Interesting question where do you get these Pinata cards? And i mean the killer Instinct Cards..... cause i would love to have them running around my island lol.

If golden eye was on XBLA i think it would be the biggest selling game on the 360.
Also KI3 must be a XBLA game and not a retail one.
They have made Goldeneye for the XBOX Live Arcade. I have the screenshots if you want them sending.
Although there's a problem with thew rights to the game. Three different companies own the rights to James Bond(Thanks D4rkwind)

Killer instict 2 has been out since... 15 years?? And it wasnt much different except graphic wise.
I think this will be more of an Xbox arcade version then a full on sequel. especilly considering the images in those cards are from Killer instict 1

It doesn't have to fit in, if enough fans want it then it can happen. Please Rare bring KI back. It's one of the funnest fighting games out there with the insane combos and ultras and no mercies, it's just unique!
