Microsoft product management director Aaron Greenberg has said that Xbox 360 owners who aren't online will be able to get the upcoming dashboard update through game discs. Greenberg says that it will "probably the biggest moment in the history of the Internet" when the 14 million Live users download the update on 19 November. Greenberg was also optimistic that Live would not crash when the update is released. "We’re doing a lot of testing and making sure we’re ready for that. You never know. It’s not like we can test 14 million people doing something at the same time. The nice thing is that it’s a pretty small download, so it’ll be a matter of seconds—things like map packs or demoes or things that are larger cause a lot more strain on the service." he said.

I have read a lot of users on here only complain about it, even though I'm sure most don't even have a 360 but still took the opportunity to bash it.

Guaranteed without a doubt it will crash.

Every company "tests" and everytime it fails.

Blizzard just released a HUGE patch for WoW in preparation for the next expansion pack. It crashed just like it did with their expansion before it. And that's even after a extensive beta testing phase.

MS want's to think they will survive this update without a major problem but it's pretty much a 110% chance they will have egg in their face on the 19th.

And this is not the biggest moment in internet history .. maybe in MS history but not the internet.

L33T have you considered its not this site. Maybe its actually that the Xbox 360 has way more fans and PlayStation 3 hasn't lived up to expectations. People can't help it if they like one product better than another. By the way that doesn't make them a fan boy. IMO a fan boy says that a product is better without actual proof. Instead they rely on opinion. That is the definition of a fan boy. I think you will find many more Sony PS 3 fan boys because in this console generation there aren't many statistics among other aspects Sony PS 3 fans can rely on to prove that the PS 3 is a better :rolleyes: console. I see Sony fan boys, present company included, flooding into most, if not all, Xbox 360 threads pointing out its superiority (without real substanial proof) and not the other way around. I dont want to suck Microsoft D**K. I just look at statistics and look at these forums regularly and see patterns. Please re-read my previous post for info. I made myself quite clear as I questioned all PS 3 fan boy logic, as there really is none.....just loyalty and opinionated statements. If any fan boy comes into the forums stating bullshit, I for one, will call them on it. On a final note, competition in the consoles market is great for each console owner. I'm very aware of this fact. I wouldn't know how great Xbox 360 was if it wasn't for companies like Nintendo. Nintendo cares nothing, for the most part, about adult gamers and mature games. Of course, I wouldn't know how great the Xbox 360 was without mentioning Sony. Sony is still selling their console for WAY too much money and only defend its price with words like Blu-Ray and 10 year life span. PS 3 needs a price reduction and fast if it intends to be a contender. Multi-media is obviously not as in demand as Sony thought it would be. Oh yeah I hate Final Fantasy.....boring ass, turn based, bullshit. There are much better games IMO. I'm out! :cool:

.... talk about blown out of proportion. In all honesty I see very few people excited about this, and I mean few. Not even the amongst hardcore 360 fans is this thing generally welcomed. Most seem to think of it as a steps backwards as far as I can tell. As far as not crashing, well I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. If it really isn't that big then he has a point.

And as far as the definition of fanboy sub-topic that bootyhuntah/ku16610 are engaged in, a fanboy is he who just can't comprehend that other people don't have to like the same thing he does. While it might not exactly be the "biggest moment" in internet history, it's not every day you have up to 14 million simultaneous downloads. But what's this about it being a small file? Isn't the update around 100mb? While that isn't enormous, it's still a pretty hefty download x 14,000,000.

While I wouldn't be surprised if it caused Xbox Live to go down, I will say that Microsoft's servers are much better than the garbage Blizzard uses.

I tend to disagree, the biggest moment in internet history is when a couple techs first put the network online at a university, the second biggest being when disparate underground boards were allowed public access tieing them togther (the worst moment being the commercialization of what is now called an 'ISP'.) Without that, greenberg would have nothing to launch his so called "biggest moment" yet-another-wannabe-best platform on.
