When using emulators through the homebrew channel, it reads the roms off of the DVD and severely truncates the folder and rom names. It is VERY difficult to figure out what I am about to play. This is with all versions of DVD capable emulators. Many of them say to use ISO9660, which I have done. I have burnt it with ISO9660, ISO9660 + UDF v 1.02, and ISO9660 + UDF v 2.60.
The first and third burnt the games with short titles (as can be seen when inserting the DVD into a computer), and the second showed up as full length, but all three have short titles in the Wii. I am using IMGburn... I would keep trying the different disc burn options :

UDF
ISO9660 + Joliet
ISO9660 + Joliet + UDF
and UDF versions 1.02, 1.50, 2.00, 2.50, and 2.60

but I am running out of DVDs!!! and it gets expensive.

So how should I burn them? or is this a DVDx issue? or an emulator issue? The rom names come up fine off of a USB or SD.

just run the games of an SD card, far easier. Chances are the filenames are shortened because of either the OS and/or the dvdx for technical reasons.

For example the xbox1 used a custom file system called fatx which had a filesize limit. I am sure there are batch file renamers available on google.

well, I have complete rom collections I would like to have on DVDs. They certainly won't fit on a 2 gig max SD card. A batch renamer wouldn't help though, I need the whole name.

oops... forgot I had a thread here...

well, I have an update.

I have the full rom and folder names working correctly. I decided to bite the bullet and just start wasting DVDs...The way to get the full name is to burn the DVD as ISO9660 + Joliet + UDF (v. 1.02) . This does work! However, Tantric has informed me that his emulators are having DVD issues regardless and that those will be fixed for the next release. Otherwise, all other emulators with DVD support work great, and have full file and rom names when using the above format.

Hope that helps some people, but excuse me, I have to go bury some dead DVDs haha.....
