View Full Version : WiiClip/WiiKey cannot read backups

Just got a wiiclip with wiikey pre-soldered and installed it as instructed on wii-clip's official site (it's a compatible D2A model).
I've tried re-installing it, re-positioning it, pressing it harder and, no matter what I do, the wii can't run backups. I keep getting the "cannot read the disc" error.
I've downgraded to 3.2u, tried various media and burn speeds (TDK DVD-R, TDK DVD-RW, Taiyo Yuden DVD-R) and am not having any luck.
Anybody have any suggestions on things I can try or should I just pack it up and send it back?
Thanks

ditch the clip and find someone to solder the chip for you

that seems to be the general consensus from anybody I ask. That's probably what I'll do. thanks

clips are unreliable because they require precise position and are prone to failure (particularly with heat).

run the config disc and make sure you have turned disc over ride on , or you wont read anything , most sites test clips/chips after soldering ,so they don't accept returns, as a bad install can leave either inoperable. if you cant get it to work you will be better off soldering it in ,a one armed blind man can solder a wiikey lol ;)

I've tried running a config disc but, like other burned media, it can't be read. Is there a chip configuration that can be run through homebrew channel?
