Got a US Wii LU584XXXXXX last week, and I am quite the noob on teh Wii Chip subjet, I didn't open the Wii yet to check the chip itself, but the serial points "50% chance that your drive chip is a GC2-D2C", so based on this data what s the best choice for a Chip?

d2pro or Wasabi. But not d2cpro or dc2pro -- those are clones.

I would definitely open it up if you have a tri wing, cause I ordered a chip based on what the trcker said, and it ended up being wrong, So I had to send me chip back. It ended up costing me twice the shipping and took twice as long to get to play backups and such... so, yeah, open it to to be sure!

throw a d2pro9v3 or a wasabi in it , it doesn't matter what chipset you have, they will work on them all

I did the same thing, but since I didnt know EXACTLY what chipset I had, I bought a D2Pro programmed for a D2C instead of D2E. Which is why I recommended opening it first

I downloded the Wii 4.2 update by mistake and i Believe you can upgrade the dc2pro chip somehow to cure it.
