NTSC to PAL iso patching

I have an NTSC iso but I want to play it on my Pal system, is it safe to patch it with wiu1.1? Once patched to Pal will it be playable and do I need to ignore updates still?

If you have the homebrew channel you could just use Gecko OS its a lot easier than patching.
