IGN has posted up its review of Star Wars Force Unleashed and has awarded it a decent rating and score of 7.3/10. It seems to be a mixture of great things and poor things, which leaves them admitting that the game is far from perfect. Uninspiring level design and tedious enemy battles really take their toll on the promising aspects of the game. Moreover, the game lacks real long lasting appeal as it can last for around 8-10 hours even if you don't rush but its worth a go if you're a Star Wars fan.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is a valiant effort at rejuvenating the largely underwhelming Star Wars videogame franchise. Some of the technology here is a little too far ahead of its time, though that could prove to be promising for future installments. Uninspired level design and some tedious enemy battles mar an experience that gives you power over the Force like we've never really seen before. While it's far from perfect, Star Wars fans will find that it's worth playing through simply for its story and the ability to use the Force in fairly awesome ways.

NO

Dont expect anything anywhere near as cool as those games. This is more like a kids platform game where you mash B to use the lightsabre.

Honestly im suprised it managed to get over 7.0.

Well this one's going to be a mixed bag!

Personally, I don't GAF about Star Wars. Some of the films are okay but I'm not some SW fanboi.
Having said that, this game is fantastic (although criminally short!).

Beautiful graphics, atmospheric music, great sound effects etc etc etc.
The only problem I have is with the amount of missions, but that problem doesn't just end with Star Wars : TFU, a lot of games don't last longer than a couple of days.

Anyways, to sum up from a non-Star Wars fan, 8.5/10 (X360 Version)

Download the demo. Although, I don't know if that'll answer your question either. It's definitely not as complex as Jedi Academy. I don't know, the demo was fun.

The demo will only give you a small bitter taste of the real thing though, so don't go 100% based off of it like so many others have.

It's definitely not a Jedi Knight type game, but it almost a "dumbed down" version. It still has some upgradability and some customization, but I think the average label fits nicely with it in comparison. It's still fun, it's still Star Wars if you are a fan.

If I could go back in time, I would probably wait for a used copy or wait for a price drop. Hope that helps.

Yeah, that's true. This game actually teases by having one of the more interesting sounding Star Wars storylines: the founding of the rebel alliance being caused by a secret apprentice of Darth Vader? That's probably better than anything Lucas could come up with these days.

If you could go back in time...you would likely find yourself waiting for the game to be released. Unless you mean waiting 5 years from now, and then going back in time to a month from now, and then buying it used? Although it'd probably be faster to just wait a month.

Jedi knight 1 and 2 were the best games in the star wars series.... this fails to be anywhere close to those masterpieces...

I thought it was a very good game, I was unimpressed at first but once the force powers kick-in I found it enjoyable.

Maxfanboys wheres that signature from, the one where the guy in the bin gets hit? :D

I meant I would go back in time and not buy the game. I would then wait until a price drop and purchase it then. You are over thinking what I was saying.

Who asked for this game to be made anyway? star wars ended on a usetheforce-luke-warm note 3 years ago. well I guess it's just another ok star wars game to add to the mountain of them we already have?

actually its a lot like Jedi Outcast, in Jedi Outcast you had to mash a keyboard key to use the lightsabre. you can use the force powers as with the bonus of leveling them up. In many ways its better that Jedi Outcast.
