Rumor: MS to announce European Xbox 360 price cut next week

A gaming website is reporting that an industry insider has told them that Microsoft will officially announce a European Xbox 360 price cut next week during a special event which it is holding. The news comes following a catalogue leak by Woolworths which featured Xbox 360 SKUs at new low prices.


Microsoft will formally announce a price cut for the 360 in Europe next week, an industry insider has confirmed.

Speaking to GAMER.tm, the industry insider – who understandably wishes to remain anonymous – said that Microsoft is to announce the price cut at a European event the company is due to hold during the week of 22 September.

According to our source, the price cut was due to be one of Microsoft’s major announcements at the event. Although our source added that it may not have the same impact now, following last week’s leak.

Our source confirmed that the prices shown in the leaked Woolworths catalogue image – GBP 129.99 for the Arcade, GBP 169.99 for the 60GB model and GBP 229.99 for the Elite – were official.

Our source also added that the leak had left Microsoft fuming, and that all of the above information came directly from Microsoft.

Didn't the UK have a recent price cut (http://www.mcvuk.com/news/29864/Microsoft-confirms-UK-360-price-drop) back in March? I don't think we'll be seeing a further price cut this year.

i cant see it myself, woolworths lowered the prrice og the wii a few weeks back to £159.99, but its gone back up now. MS lowered the price of the 360 once this year already, would be sweet if they did tho, i really want to get an elite, but £260 is a bit steep

A price cut should come to the UK. I think there will be a £30 - £50 reduction on the 60 gig pro and the elite.

We have one in March but the US & Japan have just had one so it makes sense.

I dont know about uk but the rest of europe didnt have any price cut this year, and the current price of the euro xbox360 is much higher than the american considering the present exchange rate.

The arcade hdmi is 200e in europe, in usa is 200$.

That would be 138e.

I cant compare the pro versions, because we still dont have the 60gb version here were i live, but the american pro version with 60gb is 300$, the european 20gb version is 279e.....300$ is 200e...
