Now here's 10 Xbox 360 tricks that Microsoft doesn't tend to shout out about - 1) You can connect the Xbox 360 to two screens at once, 2) Play your own music in original Xbox games, 3) It can write its own blog, 4) Play Xbox Live games for free without a LIVE account, 5) Interact with your Xbox 360 music, 6) Connect your Xbox 360 to a wireless network without an official adaptor, 7) Play music from your iPod, 8) Reset your Xbox 360 video settings, 9) Play any media file and online videos on your Xbox 360 and 10) Use any HDMI cable and still get surround sound.

1. Connect your Xbox 360 to two screens at once

If you've got one of the component/composite dual video cables - the one that comes in the box with most 360s - you can have your console display its gamey goodness on two TVs simultaneously. The trick is to flick the cable's switch to Standard Definition but hook up the composite (yellow) cable to one screen and the component (the red, green, blue) cables to another. It won't be high-def, but it could be handy if you're staging a mini LAN party and want to set up a display for bored spectators to point their eyes at.

i am not sure on the rest of them but (10 is incorrect. This i believe is also in the manual but for the elite you get the adapter and instructions like so

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemsetup/xbox360/accessories/hdmicable.htm

if you buy the adapter you get the same

1) You can connect the Xbox 360 to two screens at once, 4) Play Xbox Live games for free without a LIVE account

Huh? How can you play live for free? What would be the point of two screens at once?

I don't know about the screen thing but you can play some games for free (like shadowrun) or they might be talking about social matchmaking but I don't know if that is free for singeplayer.

Playing live games over X link Kai is impossible unless you're playing with like your neighbor and he's on the same ISP because ping has to be less than 30.

4) Play Xbox Live games for free without a LIVE account - XLink Kai only works on games with system link functionality.

dumb list

4. Play Xbox 360 games online for free – without a Live account

That you have to pay a subscription for online gaming, something that's free on other consoles and on the PC, is perhaps the 360's greatest bugbear. Stage your own form of peaceful process by playing online without paying a penny. You'll need XLink Kai, a free app you run from a PC on the same network as the console that tricks the 360 into thinking the internet is a LAN.

So it'll treat remote opponents as though they're in the same room as you – and you don't have to pay for local multiplayer. Clever! One snag – Microsoft has set the 360 to boot out anyone with a ping higher than 30ms, so you'll have to be selective about who you play with. Local chums are best, not your Chinese penpal.

That's how you do it apparently... XLink Kai isn't that good to be fair.

For number 10, i assume it means using the optical connector, I know if you have a n elite then you get an additional adapter to do that when you have HDMI pluged in.

Xlink Kai barely works on 360. That's pretty much BS. It was okay for original xbox, but 360's 30ms ping limit as it says in the article pretty much limits any decent gameplay.

The whole point of HDMI is to carry both video and sound. Only thing is you need to have HDMI in on your receiver, then you will get surround sound. (output HDMI or component to your TV to get video)

lol. I would know.

I'm literally the first person to report & help Team XLink figure that out. :D

Too bad they couldn't get past it. Very clever of M$. They certainly converted me over from xkai to xbox live.

5,6,7,8,9, and 10 are stupid "tricks", they are too obvious to post as "tricks". They should've just made 5 tricks

6) Connect your Xbox 360 to a wireless network without an official adaptor

This is a trick, seriously, that you have to buy a wifi adapter?

No 6 is crap, using a laptop, as if.

A far cheaper option is to get a wireless access point (can be picked up for around $50AUD, $30US) and basically set it up as a repeater.

So it goes:

Modem (wireless) -> Access Point -> Wired Connection -> Xbox 360.

Plus then you can hook up anything else that has a wired connection wirelessly too if you want, namely the original Xbox, PS2, etc.
