The Newfoundland government will spend approximately $2.4 MILLION to help fund a video game developer to set up shop in the province. The studio will focus on handheld, downloadable and small scale console segments and the funding will help with a variety of aspects including start up costs, wages, relocation, recruitment, training and office space.

ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — The Newfoundland government will spend up to $2.4 million to help a video-game developer set up shop in the province.

Other Ocean Group, based in California, plans to create about 60 jobs over a five-year period for video-game artists, designers, producers, programmers and management.

The company will open the St. John's studio this year.

The studio will specialize in the hand-held, downloadable and small-scale console segments of the video-game industry.

The St. John's operation will produce titles for many platforms such as the Apple iPhone, Nintendo DS and Wii, as well as the Microsoft Xbox 360.

The government funding will help to offset initial startup and operating costs, including wages, relocation, recruitment, training and office space.

Why mention someone's bad grammar when you don't even use any punctuation yourself?

I have lived in both areas, and I can say that both places are shitholes, lol. I would much rather live in Halifax though.

On topic, I believe this is a bad idea. It reminds me of all the call centers around where I live, which are only there because the gov't pays millions to them to bring jobs to this area.
