View Full Version : Finally GTA isn't blamed for a shooting but this time it is Halo
According to reports and an official investigation, it is believed an 11 year old boy who died from a gunshot was trying to imitate scenes from the Halo video game. The boy reportedly took a gun and tried to recreate some things that had occurred in the game but with an automatic rifle it can be confusing as to whether its loaded or not and this confusion is expected to have led to his death.
“We are ruling that it is an accidental shooting,” Jefferson County Detective Sgt. Larry Lee said. “The child was getting ready for school and decided to skip school. He was playing video games and we found out he had a .22 caliber rifle that belongs to him. He had access to the rifle and a magazine was kept somewhere else by his parents. He was familiar with the rifle and had been shooting it a couple of times a month - he lived out in the country, so that was nothing unusual.”
Lee said it appeared, following the department's investigation, that after playing a combat video game called “Halo,” Nimm took the gun and tried to recreate some of the things that had occurred in the game. With an automatic rifle, Lee said there can sometimes be confusion over whether it contains a magazine or not, and this confusion likely led to Nimm's death.

First off..who the **** knows what he was recreating since he is dead. If there was anyone there that saw him do this then they are the ones responsible. He could not have been recreating any videogames I have ever played since none of them let you blow your own head off.

this is what you call **** parents who blame anything they see, leaving a gun in reach of a child and letting them SHOOT IT
what in the world did the police say
"dude, am I dreaming?"

More proof that games are the replacement excuse for parents and the law system. In my life time we have had horror films and before that heavy metal, and the current excuse is video games. Face facts the reasont he kid was shot is because he got access to a firearm he should never have been able to get access to. Whoever left the gun out is responsible, not a nice thought if it was one of the parents.

as rediculous as it is.. if people want to give credit for a kid saving family from car cause "Gta and hookers tought her cars can blow up" then you gotta take the other point of view too.

What the ****? You're blaming Halo? You have to ask how the kid got a hold of a gun you dumb pricks! Make sure any other of their kids are put in a foster home so they're protected from their retarded parents!

Kid plays with video games and assault rifles. Games get blamed. Riiiiiight.
Seriously, are some americans that obsessed with guns? Why on earth would you have a assault rifle in the house, never mind the hands of your eleven year old son?

Yes we are obsessed with guns because we (legally) need them in case our government turns into a dictatorship so we can oust that mofo without help from any other countries. It's just that we are all not stupid enough to blame video games for you leaving a gun out in child's reach. Those are the morons who shouldn't own a gun at all.

Guns kill people....ban them
Knives kill people (now Japan wants to ban them)
Games kill people......do we see where this is going?
The problem isn't the gun, the knife or the game. It's the person.

If computer games are banned why not
cowboys and indians, and cops and robbers being banned from the playground.
just as much a killing simulation as halo.

tbh i just dont get why any teenager should be carrying a knife, unless its needed for there job. Im quite happy for little chavs to be locked up for carrying one. In UK you dont get guns easily..
games are a totally different matter, you cant exactly launch the disc at someones head and kill them. If parents/shops stick to the age categories then half these idiot kids wouldnt have the exscuse.

i wouldn't blame halo3 for any shooting incidents but i would blame it for stupidity aka failing to pass school exams.

Who the hell leaves an AUTOMATIC weapon within reach for a child? The parents should be jailed for being so ignorant. They can blame Halo if they want, but they let their kids play it, so they're the ones who should have to pay for it.

If your government turns into a dictatorship then really you have to rely on the military to do the right thing. If the military supported the dictatorship then you would have no chance, unless you support the right to own fighter jets and battle tanks. The military could beat down any civilian militia in a heartbeat. I believe that it's part of your original constitution(?), but frankly it's obseleted by modern weaponry.

Havent read the article, but surely they must conclude that it was playing with a loaded gun that killed him, not playing a game and then playing with a loaded gun. Thats like saying he watched a western and then went out and accidently shot himself, that would be the movies fault then.
