CNBC's Jane Wells son now wants his Xbox 360 back, barely plays PS3

CNBC news editor Jane Wells once posted that the ultimate proof that the PS3 is winning due to the fact that her son got rid of his Xbox 360 and purchased a PS3. However now she returns to her thought by saying that her song REGRETS trading in his Xbox 360 as all his friends are on Xbox Live and he's not actually playing the PS3 that much as he's waiting for new games!


So I thought I'd follow up, even at the risk of unleashing a second fusillade of verbal missiles.

My son still owns his PS3. I asked him if he likes it. Yes. I asked him if he regrets trading in his Xbox 360. Yes to that, too. Why? He says that while he enjoys the quality of game play on the PS3, especially the graphics (and no discs have been scratched yet), he misses all his friends on Xbox Live. I've noticed that he's not playing the PS3 very much, and, in fact, he's reactivated his old "World of Warcraft" account, from Activision's Blizzard Entertainment.

Regarding the PS3, he says he's waiting for new games--many angry emailers warned of this! So... does he want to trade back and get an Xbox? No. He's hoping to save up enough money and "possibly" buy a 360 so he can have both consoles. Maybe Microsoft's new price cuts will encourage him to do that. Then, perhaps, we can unite as one nation, one household, behind both consoles. That will only leave out the Wii, which, I'm afraid, he wouldn't be caught dead owning.

I remember when this came out saying he traded it for a PS3 a bunch of people cried "OH HE MUST HAVE BEEN PAID BY SONY" and I'm pretty sure you were one of the people who cried. Killzone won't be horrible because the devs actually took time to make it, I don't know about Resistance or Motorstorm but I know KZ2 will outdo Gears and Halo and Resistance and any other FPS on the consoles.

OMG, I own all 3 also! They all suck. The 360 RRODs, the PS3 has no good games, the Wii is a waggle-infused piece of ****. My 360 is the a piece of crap tho. It just sits there all god damn day. I don't know if you know this, but a fanboy can own all three consoles, a Dreamcast, and a gaming PC and can still be a fanboy. Just because you have three consoles doesn't mean you are automatically unbiased. A lot of people are blind to this fact.

The opposite holds true as well, if you only own a PS3 you don't have to be a fanboy if you know the strengths of the 360 and not reduce oneself into a flaming troll on public forums.

I adnit I am the same, i'm waiting on exclusives mainly as i get everything else ont he 360. Thats not out of preference just simply becuae everyone esle I know has a 360 and so it's less hassle playing multiplayer. I have purchased 10 games since gettig the PS3 in june 07 and have no intention of buying more at present as I am waiting on the likes of Resistance 2 and MS2 etc before buying again,as there is nothing worthwhile gettting at the mo.

My experience has shown me that if you have either a PS3 or 360, there is really no point buying the other as there is precious little that the other offers, tho that said I have preferd some of the 360 exclusives over the PS3 ones, Gears of War, Halo 3 (for online) and Mass effect have been fun games, tho that said Tekken 5 DR and MGS4 were fun as well.

"Wipe the floor"?? Please. Of those 4 games you mentioned above, I loved MGS4 and R & C: ToD (WTF did they do to QfB? Where has my jump/strafe gone?? WTF?? I don't want RE4 style camera angles...I want to be able to jump and strafe at the SAME time!). As for Uncharted...didn't care for it and I don't like racing games unless I can blow stuff the hell up or it's Mario Kart. Bring on Carmegeddon!!

I want to see more RPGs and Platformers on the PS3. Where is the next Jak & Daxter game? Where is Sly? And...I won't even get into the RPGs that are lacking; only one I have is Oblivion (incredible RPG in its own right but I own the 360 and PC versions as well).

Those with only the PS3 should be happy as I read Tales of Vesperia will be coming to the PS3 later...not sure when...but it's coming. IMO a nominee for GoTY for RPGs if not GoTY period. I'm having a blast playing it. Deep immersive story and gameplay, music score top notch and you can grind if you want but it isn't a necessity. Really, about the only games I'm looking forward to on PS3 will be the ones I mentioned above as well as GoW 3...hell yes bring on Kratos!. I thought HS was a great PS3 title and it gets blasted here as bad as Haze and I never understood why. Hey Capcom you listening??...maybe the PS3 will get a MH game in the future. At that point, I would be playing my PS3 equally if not more than my 360 just on that game alone.
