first of all i don't know if this is the right spot to post this in, but recently i played a game over a friends and then i borrowed his game and played over my house and noticed that the controller doesn't vibrate. i tried 2 of my other controllers and they dont vibrate either. i tried replacing the part where u plug in ur controllers & memory card and that didn't fix it either. i also tried different games and none of them vibrate. any idea what caused my ps2 to stop having that function. Could my dms3 killed that function, or is there maybe a fuse for that the got killed. any help would be appreciated.

thanx in advance guys

Hate to ask. But you didn't mention. Did you check your game options to ensure that the vibration option was turned on?

Hmm, so your PS2 don't send vibrate commands anymore, and its verified that the controller(s) on another system vibrates? Does this happen to be a 3rd party controller, or official sony when it occured? ? (did you notice it not vibrating on a 3rd party, then your original official sony controller didn't work either) I have heard horror stories of non-licenced/unofficial controllers destroying PSX consoles, esp those with a turbo mode. I doubt anything has changed with the PS2 as it uses the same basic configuration.

It does sound like a blown fuse problem to me. I would test the controllers in another system and see if they work right, then rip out the mainboard and check for fuse shorts, if you find one replace the fuse - if you bridge it you will just aid in the distruction of your mainboard. Then I would refrain from using that controller anymore.

Its unlikly that the DMS chip ruined your vibrate function.

i dont have any 3rd party controllers, all my controllers are the sony ones, they do work on other ps2s. Would you happen to know where the fuse for the vibrating function is. btw this is my second ps2 that it happened to.

Okay, rip your PS2 apart and find the board revision. Now do a search on PS2 fuses locations. I think they are all pretty much labelled though. They are on the bottomside of the board. The PS7 is likly blown. either bypass it with a wire or replace it with an equivilant fuse. I recommend the latter.

i opened the console once and didn't know what to look for and closed it again. After reading above, i opened it again, didn't dare to open too much but only saw 1 main fuse at the power inlet and it looked ok. i however found that the ribbon cable to the front on/off, reset switch has got a hole in the middle. this must have been caused by screwing the screw right through it!.

I don't know wether it was me when i opened it before, or it could have been by the repair shop when they last replaced the laser pickup. Funny thing is the whole thing works except for the vibration. (this problem was there before i opened it for the first time)

My question is, could the power for vibration also pass through the front on/off switch, and if so, could that be the reason i have no vibration?

i have bypassed it with a cord but it still doesn't work. What i can do else? i have put some cord around it and then push it on both sides of the fuse.I have use something to press the cord on both sides to the fuse or must i remove the fuse first to get it to work?

i have looked here for the right fuse http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14950

my is at ps9 because it's marked with a 50!! there is no ps7 print oon the fuses in my ps2
