there are comparison charts. I forget where they are, and they are very outdated.

Generally price, features and support are what you got to weigh. If your into deving and homebrew programs, get an infinity or DMS4 Pro. If your installing into a slimline, DEV2 mode and HDD support are generally irrevilant, so go with something that has DVD9 support as you can't load from the HDD. I havn't had great success with the DMS4 line, but the DMS3+ line was no hassles to me. Make sure you buy genuine equipment and don't get some cheap magic clone or something like the H20 mod. Crystal chip, Infinity, Ghost2, DMS4 seem to be top of the charts at the moment, and if you want the best support I suggest one of these. This is my opinion, and a Ripper, Duo2SE or Magic 5k6 might work fine for you. Theres endless possibilities.

Shop around, find a good deal on a chip with DVD9 support, Yfix, DEV mode, auto-off/online capibilities, autodetect/boot discs and capible of firmware upgrades, with a recovery mode/force flash mode in case theres a problem.

Thats my best suggestion to you.

H2O all the way, Ive been modding for about 9 years total, Used Neo's, Magics, Messiahs, Duo, Duo 2's etc Tried Ninja They SUCK, But Then came
H2O mid priced, you can get them for about 25 bucks, Awsome chip, allows play back of DL backups like God of war, Just installed one in a 39001 and a 5000 works great, I still did the V9 AND V10 large protect, on the La 6508,
But a super chip, just placed another order for quite a few of even the newer
H2O Orange, I love this chip, dont care to much for hdd in PS2's, My Xbox takes care of any HD I need. Get an H20 or if you want to spend more get a crystal, modbo or better. But I think the H2O will do what you want.
