hi,
i just browse the forum and it make me wonder about some information on the d2pro, then i search a little on google and found contradictory information everywhere. so i tough i could ask real people that own d2pro themself

why there is 2 way to update the chip, there is one with the dvd and another with the programmer thing,

when buying the chip for my wii do i need to buy the programmer whit it so i can do update or i don't need to update in any other way thant de dvd update after instalation.

does the d2pro unlock make my wee region free?

when nintendo release wii update on new game, my d2pro will probaly still work? otherwise will i be able to update the chip with the dvd update functionallity?

can i unsolder the chip easily to remove it if omething go wrong?

and finally, can you point some good tutorial and information page about th d2pro

thx a lot,
joe

Dont own a D2PRO as of yet but i would hope i know a little about it.

why there is 2 way to update the chip, there is one with the dvd and another with the programmer thing

From what ive read about, the dvd updates are for things like game fixes, bugs etc. Some disks come with the firmware on tho.
With the the programmer you can actually update the Chips firmware.

Correct me if im wrong please.

does the d2pro unlock make my wee region free?

To make the chip region free,
Before you play any backup after installing the chip
Play an ORIGINAL GAME FROM YOUR REGION (only for like a min or 2)
This will allow you to play other region games on your wii.

when nintendo release wii update on new game, my d2pro will probaly still work? otherwise will i be able to update the chip with the dvd update functionallity?

Update the chip as often as possible id say.
And only ever update your wii from games disks that match the region of your wii.
(eg, PAL console, PAL game update: fine
PAL console, NTSC game update: DONT EVER DO THIS)

Updating from another region game to your wii could brick the drive.

To avoid bricking your drive you should run every "import" through WII BRICK BLOCKER.

can i unsolder the chip easily to remove it if omething go wrong?

If your worried about something going wrong you should get a wii clip

Link: http://www.futuravideogames.co.uk/product_info.php/products_id/14114/name/wii-clip+v4+universal+d2c+install+tooling+(d2pro)/

That is the clip needed for the D2PRO.

Or better yet why not get one ready soldered onto the clip?
A plug and play modchip practically.

and finally, can you point some good tutorial and information page about th d2pro

Hope this helped you

"dvd upgrade" only updates the spi
"d2programmer" can rewrite the firmware to the main chip ,( if it was ever needed ,eg if nintendo ever brought an update out to block the chip then you can just reprogram the chip with the new firmware once it became avaliable.)

when buying the chip for my wii do i need to buy the programmer whit it so i can do update or i don't need to update in any other way thant de dvd update after instalation.

no you dont the chip should come with the latest firmware on them

does the d2pro unlock make my wee region free?
modchips will only play around 70%-75% out of region games read here (http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/index.php/Wii_Region_Patcher_Compatibility_List)

when nintendo release wii update on new game, my d2pro will probaly still work? otherwise will i be able to update the chip with the dvd update functionallity?

if you cant update with the dvd the programmer will be able to do it with a new firmware

can i unsolder the chip easily to remove it if omething go wrong?

yes its a 2 minute job, it will take longer to open your wii.
if you dont want to solder you can use this (http://360upgrades.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=11_2&products_id=2)
you dont have to worry about soldering/un-soldering ,

and finally, can you point some good tutorial and information page about th d2pro

The modchip is not region coded until the installer or yourself set the region coding this the jumper setting on the chip. mod chips have jumper settings these means bridging the jumper settings with solder & the type of chip set the wii console has IE Dms D2B D2C & D2c2...........

Or like D2pro you will need to download an region coded disc pal' USA' jap

(Jumper settings)
1 pal Europe

2 USA

3 japan

4 Kor (wasabi or D2sun)
