PRESS RELEASE: Begin the Epic Journey!

Today, Microsoft Game Studios and Lionhead Studios announced that the highly anticipated action role-playing game “Fable® II” will ship to U.S. retailers on Oct. 21, 2008 and UK retailers on Oct. 24, with subsequent release dates throughout the rest of the world in the coming months. Combining thrilling action, heart-wrenching emotional experiences and a genre-bending Xbox LIVE multiplayer mode, “Fable II” is the must-have blockbuster for 2008.

Developed by Peter Molyneux and Lionhead Studios, the creators of the critically-acclaimed “Fable” and “Black & White,” “Fable II” offers an infinite amount of choice in an open world environment, allowing gamers to become the most heralded of all heroes or reviled of all villains. Ringing in new heights of innovation for the genre and expanding upon the rich experience of the first title, “Fable II” immerses players in the expansive world of Albion.

“Fable II” pioneers a new combat system designed to allow players to truly master hand weapons, ranged combat weapons and magic, each using a different single button on the Xbox 360 controller, making the game approachable and accessible to both casual and hardcore gamers. Players will live out personal and emotional experiences like never before, whether playing solo or co-op together with a friend or over Xbox LIVE, with their constant dog companion by their side.

Fans eager for a head start will have the opportunity to test their luck in the Xbox LIVE Arcade title developed exclusively for “Fable II,” available on Aug. 13; those who pre-order a copy of “Fable II” at participating retailers will be given free access to download the “Fable II” Pub Games, or they can be downloaded without pre-order via Xbox LIVE for 800 Microsoft points. The high-stakes casino-style pub games, titled “Fortune’s Tower,” “Keystone” and “Spinnerbox” will offer players the opportunity to start earning a bounty of gold and treasures to fund their adventures in “Fable II,” ahead of the title’s release on Oct. 24.

In addition to the standard retail version, “Fable II” will be offered in a Limited Collector’s Edition through participating retailers and will feature:

• Bonus DVD – Includes new ‘Making-of Feature’ with Peter Molyneux and the team at Lionhead Studios and concept art viewer
• Bonus In-Game Content (Requires LIVE account) – Includes “The Hall of the Dead” Dungeon, “The Wreckager” Legendary Cutlass Weapon and Otherworldly Bonus
• Collectible Hobbe figure with accessories – From the Qee Collection comes this one-of-a-kind Hobbe figure. Nasty, brutish, and short, he roams the countryside, preying on travelers and spiriting away the children of the unwary.
• 48-hour Xbox LIVE Gold Trial Card – With Xbox LIVE Gold, players can show off their individual hero by inviting friends into their unique version of Albion or they can visit their friends’ Albion, and earn additional gold, experience and renown to take back into their own.
• Five printed Fate Cards – These five beautiful cards foretell the Hero’s great destiny to journey across all of Albion, encountering deadly enemies and enigmatic allies. The path leads to a choice that will change the world forever.

The standard edition “Fable II” will have an estimated retail price of £44.99 and the Limited Collector’s Edition will retail for an estimated price of £49.99. “Fable II” is rated PEGI 16+.

This is the one of the only games I plan on actually buying for the rest of the year.First thing I'm going to try to do, is kill the dog or kill a child.

Fable1 is short. Don't expect to spend more than 15 hours for a play through.

wow, I cant wait for this game, im thinking in getting Fable 1, any suggestions guys, do you guys think ill be done with it by the time fable 2 hits stores...If you're going to get Fable, get the The Lost Chapters. No point in getting just Fable. It doesn't take much effort to finish Fable TLC in less than a month. Fable: The Lost Chapters is exactly the same as Fable 1 with a few extra missions... and a brothel in Darkwood :D

To anyone else reading these. If you've never played Fable or you aren't sure if you should get Fable 2, you should buy Fable (TLC) and try it. It's dirt cheap if you buy it used and it's on the bc list. Take note that there are some minor problems with the audio emulation on the 360 from time to time, but nothing that would affect gameplay.

I've played through fable about 4 times and i bought it again the TLC version that i used to have and am playing it on the 360 the audio is just an occasional frazzle every 10 minutes or so so nothing to worry about.

cant wait for this ive pre ordered the limited edition one, ive never bought limited before as there normally useless but 1 i love this game so im paying the extra and 2 this actually comes with some good stuff not only in game but a figurine and some cards now thats worth the extra £5.

playing on the 360 at the moment just done twinblades camp and have all the possible silver keys up to that point its the best playthrough ive had as i know exactly what im doing but its been long enough since i last played (about a year a bit more) that i dont remember every single detail and am actually finding a few new things.

I just cant imagine the amount of choices and paths it will have as fable already is a massive game full of an amazing amount of options and choices throughout.

Cant wait for this game and reccommend anyone who is thinking about it to get Fable TLC its cheap on CEX thats where i got mine from its only £8.00 and its a very high end xbox game so youd be almost happy if it were a 360 game.

also got jade empire aswell hope they make another one of them aswell.

and yeah to the person who asked its the sequel i think its 500 years onwards of the original.

Will those pub games be on the disc also when you get it? Would they be "in-game" games or would they be separate and you can play them through xbox live arcade. I really don't know if I should wait for them or spend 800 points.

Also does anyone know if that extra content (levels, weapons, etc.) will be given to you through a special code where you have to download the content or will the limited edition disc just be enough to give you the extra content through live?

sweet, the egm rumor about this being delayed was apparently (hopefully?) false.

you could've had it for free by now for PC...also i would get the original copy if i were you. it sells dirt cheap on ebay. Fable is completely different from Fable 2 and IMO the best. Fable 2 is not out but i am sorry to say that i am not impressed with anything they've shown so far for Fable 2.

for free.... what do you mean???

oohh, well im thinking about downloading the fable game over xbox live, on the xbox originals section, any idea if its the lost chaptersIt's not The Lost Chapters. And on top of that, in Europe the physical media of Fable: The Lost Chapters costs less than the Xbox Live Marketplace game.

for free.... what do you mean???You shouldn't listen to trolls ;) No seriously, don't listen to them, never. The game is also available to PC and to get it free, you'd have to illegally download it.

look at your post history and come back with a deductive argument.Again, completely irrelevant to the point that you are a troll and also completely irrelevant in general. You don't even own a 360, yet you hang around 360 threads and flame the system and anyone posting to the thread. Well you can troll all you like and make retarded comments about anything you like, nobody is going to stop you, at least not on Maxconsole.

All you're doing is feeding the troll. You're giving him attention, which is exactly what he wants.

it wont be further delayed as its officially been announced as finished there just bug finding and peter molyneux has said repeatedly definitely in october and when the actual person in charge says that hes not going to be wrong or made look stupid he wouldnt go out on such a limb without bieng certain.
