Hello,
I am about to mod my wii with the D2PRO chip,
yet i cant seem to find a guide anywhere telling me how to update.
I know its updatable via dvd, and thats seems easy enough,
-burn the iso to disk runit in modded wii? right?
But i dont know about how to install the new firmwares etc.
I will buy the D2PROG yet i dotn actually know what to do to update with it.
Will someone pelase offer me a step by step guide. Thanks.
Also im having troubles with the usb driver from thier site
- http://www.d2pro.com/resources.html
I download it, yet id ont know what to do with it, to install.
Could some one please help me out with this aswell. Thanks.
Lastly just to clarify, installing this in my PAL wii, will allow me to play NTSC, and NTSC-J games also doesnt it?
Thanks for any help.

lol seems you dont know a lot (that is only a joke by the way).
to update the modchip first you need to know what type of d2pro it is? 9 wire compatible or 13/15/19 wire. then download the relevant firmware update.
then you need to buy the d2pro programmer. and connect it to the modchip correctly. then plug the usb lead into the programmer and into the pc, and new hardware will be found, point the driver wizard to the d2pro driver you have downloaded and jobs done.
the goto the firmware update file you downloaded for your chip and execute it, it will detect your chip and details etc etc, and ask you to confirm by typing `yes` it will then update your chip.
you can program the chip either in situ (i.e. installed in the console, but donot power the console on whilst programming, the console needs to be OFF, i.e. no power except from the USB lead used to program it) or you can program the chip, as-is .
but seriously , if your asking these sorts of questions, do you think you can install your own chip? would it not be worth getting someone to install it for you?
hope this helps.

Yeah i know which firmware and that i need.
Got the 9 Wire Chip.
Thanks for lettign me know what to do with the usb driver.
You said connect the D2PROG to the chip correctly, thats the bit i need help on.
How do i connect it to the chip correctly is there just a connection on the chip for me to put the wire into or something?
(Ill have the spi added)
And yes im sure i wanna install it myself, after all i am buying it ready solder into a wiiclip haha.
Ive just noticed this in the D2PRO specifications
Advanced automatic region detection with fallback (works even if a drive is changed to a different region Wii)
Im assuming this means i can go about happily updating all my games even if there different regions to PAL?

why use D2prog you have SPI download 1.5 http://www.d2pro.com/downloads/utilityDisc/d2pro9_utilitydisc_eur_v1.5.iso.bz2
Update the firmware job done why spend more money on a D2prog when the chips has spi
:)

because the 1.5 will only update the spi , he wants to update the chip

Is it totally necessary to update the chip though?
Because if id ont need to do it, i wont.
Ill just keep updating using the config disks.
Can anyone shed any light on the whole updating the wii drive from a game of different region, for example mario kart NTSC or something.
Because ve heard doing this can brick your console.
Yet in the D2PRO specifications it says
Advanced automatic region detection with fallback (works even if a drive is changed to a different region Wii)
So surely, with the D2PRO you can update on any game and not worry about bircking your wii? Right?
Despite asking this though, i will no doubt be running all my ISO through Wii Brick Blocker, and i will be updating my wiis firmware manually too.
Unlike PSP am i good to go in updating the wii firmware to the latest? 3.3U i think?
Thanks

you update your wii by a game from a different region to your wii and you run the chance of bricking your wii, the rule of thumb is, if the game region does not match the console region "don't update"
