MS's last presentation slide says "We WILL outsell the PS3"

Speaking at UK Games conference today held at Chelsea' FC's football ground, Microsft's VP Gosen ended his presentation with a presentation slide that proclaimed that "We WIL outsell the Playstation 3". Microsoft plans heavy investment to make this all happen but is that enough?


But Gosen’s views differ with Sony’s on one key point – which next-gen console will rule the generation.

“We’re going to invest in this region to ensure we win,” he said, leaving attendees to look at his last presentation slide, which bullishly proclaimed ‘We WILL outsell the PlayStation 3’.

Let's hope so, if Sony can be dead and burried in the console market this generation then that would be very nice revenge for the cut-down overpriced Euro model ps3 they took the piss with....let us not forget

They should just buy the Sony gaming division. All sony cares about now is Bluray movies. Games out for both systems are usually far better on a 360 than a Ps3. Shame really

maybe if they milk the **** out of the xbox360 (for 10 years lol) like sony does with the ps2 and will with the ps3...after all if you have your product on the market for long enough, people begin to forget about the problems that occurred at the start of the console's lifecycle (eg. psx, ps2)

PS3 has finally cached up with the 360 in firmware upgrades and has the better hardware. Now we have games that rumble, in-game menu, have trophies, the best exclusives are on their way and A FREE ONLINE (the way it should always be). I don't think Microsoft can catch up any more, at least not with avatars.
Of course I'm talking about Europe and Japan. In the US the xbox brand will always sell, no matter how broken they ship it.

i just think microsoft is spending too much time with offense. Instead of playing their own game (ohh pun) they keep saying the same thing, the same thing, the same thing. "We will outsell de PS3".

Come on. Stop taolking and make some really big thing. Avatars? Not a big deal to sell consoles. "New Xbox Live Experience" ? Isn't it almost the same thing in a different menu?

Launching good games, lower price, free multiplayer gaming (why not? gaming at least!), cheaper hard drives... what ever.

It is not because they say that they will outsell the PS3 that it is going to happen. Positive thinking is good. But they really need to do as much as they say.

They need to stop looking so hard at Sony hardware sales figures against their own and perhaps look at the customers they could attract if they gave more variety. After 2.5 yrs they should have moved from the hardcore early adopters to a more balanced market with many casual titles, especially as the 360 is promoted as easy to develop for.

They built the xbox on the hardcore fps crowd to get a foothold in the market, thats great a nice start. But do not seem to have tried with the 360 to expand their market except into the pc games market as evidence to the so called exclusives also appearing on the pc aswell.

Microsoft could cause another crash in the industry if they carry on content to lose money to try to outdo Sony as Sony would have to fight back and end up not make money too by the end of the generation and no shareholders on either side will tolerate that long.

Nintendo seem exempt to this as they have gone a different direction all together.

even if xbox outsells ps3 right up 2 the xbox 720 (doubt that will happen, but jus if), they forgot the part where sony is going to leave the ps3 on the market for many years after the xbox 360 goes off, microsoft jus cant win, unless they leave the system on the market like sony (which they hav no intentions of doing), and leave it at a good price, but once ps3 hits $199, its game over, nex gen, nex console wars....they gave a good fight, taking exclusives, the year head start, but trust me, once god of war 3 hits, the little 5.55 mill lead they hav on ps3 will close (note this might even happen b4 god of war 3), and sony might even open one.... to even stand a chance in beating sony, they have 2

1. make live gold free (yea right),

2. leave the console on the market for years after the nex xbox (yea right agen)...

Anybody remembered how Sega literally gave Dreamcasts for FREE?!

The catch was, you will have to sign up with SEGA.NET for two years if memory serves me correct.

I am not suprised MS will do the same. But expect LIVE's payment structured to be overhauled to suit this.

As long as we gamers keep getting great games (GoW2, Fable, and the multi-platform) I really don't care for MS or Sony, right now I prefer the x360, as in PS3 software library nothing interest me, maybe that changes for next year, but for this one not.

the only way M$ will take off in UK (EU) in full force against the PS3 is to offer free online gaming and have a reliable machine made...

at the moment SCEE dosnt give a monkeys for its customers, and deserves a good thrashing...

When PS3 get some games they might start getting somewhere... 2-3 years down the line they might just pass the 360.. which is when M$ will be thinking of a new console. Leave the 360 on the market and have 2 consoles battling against PS3... its a win win situation.

The PS3 is outselling the 360 in a month to month bases in America, Japan and the Rest of the World, yes thats right they are outselling them worldwide!!!

They are selling almost half a million more consoles worldwide a month more than the 360, it wont be long until the PS3 catches the 360, common sence would show people that.

Seriously though, the ps3 as far as I know is selling better than the 360 everywhere at the moment, but so what? ms needs to rethink their strategy and fix their own problems.
