there is alot of great reads and support

ok here it goes
we got a brand new WII and i installed a d2cpro v.3
it reads the disks sometimes and sometimes it doesnt
most of the time it doesnt. it pulls this disks in very very slow
sometimes i get ready errors.
i did load the d2c disk utility and forced 1.5 firmware but i think that is what was on it
any help would really help

How slow is pulling in the discs slow?
Reading problems I've found is due to 2 things, dirty laser or the 2 cables not plugged in correctly on the Wii ODD

not neccesarily (i hate spelling that word lol).

sometime stock can be left around for weeks or months so always best tp update no matter what.

to update you can by disc as far as i am aware but not sure if this feature is on all firmwares, surely someone else can answer this.

i have always used the d2programmer.
i have never come across this problem myself with a d2pro, but then again i always update the chip first.

hope this helps.

to fix this issue you will need a programmer, upgrading via dvd only upgrades the spi.

Did you manage to fix the issue? I have exactly the same problem: got the v3 bundle with clip and the drive pulls the dvd very slow. It takes 30 seconds to pull it with clicks, after that it seems to work fine. Noticed it only happens first time after power cycle, then it pulls discs normal.
How to check which firmware I have?

You can use the update disk, it will show the current version on the top of the screen when loaded.
