My friend’s pal wii(LEH109*) isn’t turning on after he updated it with super mario galaxy(pal), but it was working flawlessly before that playing backups and originals.

When I insert the power supply, the red light comes on, then as soon as I press the "on" button or the "eject button" the green light comes on and then it immediately turns off.

I thought that there was a short between the GND and the VOLTAGE point on the wiikey(plz note: I got a pro to install it via wire install), so I opened the wii and removed the wiikey, but that didn’t make I difference. I then removed the dvd drive, but the wii still didn’t turn on. I know it’s not the power supply’s fault as I checked it on my wii.

I even stripped the wii right down to the motherboard, removed the other end of the dvd ribbon cable and power supply cable, made sure there was nothing loose, then tried to turn it on again but samething happened.

Any advice would be great
Thanks

So the upgrade succeeded? Was this his first ever upgrade of his firmware?

Maybe the unit was has a bad flash chip to begin with?

Try some diffrent power points

I know it sounds really stupid but I've got most my stuff running off a single big power board (ps3, x360, wii, pc, soldering station, plasma, speakers, lamp and various phone chargers) when I'm using my soldering station and my pc & plasma are running Ive noticed my wii will turn off shortly after turning it on same with the ps3 but the 360 won't.

Your goal at the moment is to single out where the fault is so try a few power points and another power supply unit too, if you have a mate with a wii that works fine takeit to his plug yours in and see if it still does this. If so its some thing on your motherboard but like I said just confirm it since you havnt ruled a few things out
