I've read several different contradicting steps on countless tutorials on many sites, and I'm looking for some clarification.

1.) PART 5: SETTING UP THE MS DASHBOARD - I read in the xbox-scene forums that you must sign the xbe with xbedump, but the tutorial does it without signing. Which works?

2.) The Phoenix 1.3 nfo file says it does not contain the RC4Key and any bios images so that the distribution is legal. The tutorial doesn't mention configuring these files. Signed_phoenix_Bios_Loader_V1.3.rar contains a boot.cfg with valid a looking RC4 key and it contains an xboxrom.bin file. Are these valid files, or do these still need to be configured?

This tutorial is the most comprehensive of the ones I read. Thanks for the effort.

I was looking at that JUST when i got an email about a new post :) I have realised that I somehow missed putting that step in (dont ask me how). Ill ammend that tonight when I go to update it.

Those files are already complete so there is no need to make additions with rc4 keys and eeporms.

I've sucessfully modded two xboxes following this tutorial.

I ran into two problems:

1.) Definitely upgrade to XBox Live before trying this stuff. I hit lots of problems with my old bios version.

2.) I used a static IP with a crossover cable when connecting to my xbox. I found that if the cable wasn't hooked up when the save game exploit was used, it wouldn't get an IP address and I couldn't ftp in. You might want to re-order these steps of put a note about it.

--------------
23. You should now have the Evolution X dashboard displayed on the screen.

24. CONNECT the X-Box to your computer via the crossover network cable.

25. Using your chosen FTP program, CONNECT to the X-Box.
----------------

Great tutorial!

Yes I have stated in the tutorial that it is best to update BEFORE applying the tutorial.

You might want to re-order these steps of put a note about it.
Yes that is true, another oversight on my part. Thanks.
