Hello all,

I recently purchased a d2pro9 v2 modchip from modchipcentral.com which does not work. I have the d2c2 chipset and when I put the wii-clip on the chip I just get the red light and I cannot insert or eject disks and the drive does not spin. When I remove the clip, the drive functions like normal. I noticed on wii-clip.com how to identify if it is real or fake and took notice of this:

Now here is an image of my clip:

I do not have any numbers or letters anywhere here.

I have not seen any negative reviews for modchipcentral.com regarding selling fake chips, so I was hoping someone could help. Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks!

Check your installation, I'm betting that's the problem. Real or fake they look exactly the same to me and it really shouldn't matter.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried reseating it but still the same result. I believe its on good because I can nearly pick up the drive by the clip itself. I followed the directions. The directions are pretty straightforward. ANy suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!

Throw the wiiclip in the garbage and have somebody perform a hardwire install for you.
I dont care how awsome they claim to be, genuine or not, if it's not a hard wired connection dont expect it to work.

Its like this. I had a buddy with a nice car stereo along with an amp and such, that he installed himself, but could not figure out why he was getting static and overall poor performance. He twisted his connection together using electrical tape to secure everything... Once I soldered everything together. Bam, perfect reliable operation. I view the wiiclip like electrical tape, it "might get you by" overall it will let you down.

There is nothing wrong with the original wiiclips, they work fine, i have sold in excess of 200 with no issues ,these clips are well made not like the other load of s**t that the Spanish guys released when they first came out .the originals are well made and they work well

heathuff has a fake by the look of it ,these do not work!!! and they do damage your wii look here (http://wii-clip.com/original.htm)

i do agree nothing compare to a solder joint ,i have installed hundreds of chips ,but these clips work and they work well.

Yeah,my Wiikey Wii-Clip works great and I got it from modchipcentral. I still had to have someone solder the chip on to the clip for me after I tried myself and botched it up....LOL I would reccomend to anyone that doesnt have any real soldering experience to get the clip with the pre-soldered chip and pay the extra few bucks....it is well worth it...

The original Wii-Clip comes with a thin cardboard piec that will cover the clip up to prevent shorts from occurring. We need another pic of the other side of the clip though and more of a close up shot.

For the record I have a wiiclip v5 from modchipcentral I purchased in June of this year. I opened up my wii over the weekend, and for sure my clip is 100% real.
