Hello,

I tried to install an argon spi today without succes(On a d2c drive). First I installed it using the 9 wire install and with firmware 2.0. Whit that firmware the led would burn, the drive would click, and then the led and the drive would go out. Then after a second it would do the same again and it kept doing so untill I pulled the plug. Then I tried firmware 1.1. This time the led would burn all the time so the install was good, but the drive was completely dead this time.

Then I swapped the chip for another one (but not changing the rest of the install) with firmware 2.0 and after that I flashed that with 1.1, and this chip gave the exact same symptons.

I figured it most be the install so I completely removed the whole thing, cleaned everything and checked if the drive was fine without any chips. It was and it booted originals just fine. So I reinstalled everything with the 9 wire install but still the same. Then I tried a 17 wire install and tried both the chips just in case, this time the symptons where similar to those with 1.1: chip worked but drive dead.

Only this time the drive actually WAS dead becuase after cleaning it did not work. Turns out one of the fuses had blown so now I had to bridge it after checking the whole drive for bridges.

I do not dare to reinstall the chip now after consulting you guys becuase now the drive has no protection left. Can anyone tell me whats going on here? A pisture of my original install:

ps2martin,

i cant zoom in enough to tell, but look at the parts of the wii chip between h and i , it looks like you soldered there by mistake and tried to clean it up, it doesnt look right?

Well the problem has been solved, by using argon chip nr 3 and a 9-wire install. I am really starting to dislike the argon becuase they have a lot of issues. I guess I will buy d2cpro chips next time.

Thanks for your help.
