View Full Version : Help the noob to choose a chip?
Hello, I bought wii yesterday from bestbay canada. Yeah so i played a bit but i want to install a chip. And here comes the problem. So i dont know which chipset i got, because when i checked my serial number here:http://nintendo-scene.com/wiitracker/search.php i got 50% chance to have d2c chipset and i dont really want to open the console yet, because it is basically a gift for my brother and i want when i get to my country everything to be tip top. So which chip should I get if my serial number is LU349505747 ? And also can you tell me mode about these updatetable chips, which support update, i want one of these.
So this is it. Hope here are still nice people ready to help, thank you!

If you just bought the Wii you either have a d2c2 or maybe even a d2e.
The latest Wasabi (v2 and up) and the latest d2pro chip will have support for your Wii. Both are upgradable via DVD and d2pro can be upgraded via a USB programmer as well.
Yeah, bought it yesterday as i said. If it is d2e, is it supported by those chip? Also which chip is better to choose, like which one has a better support, etc.

Sorry for hijacking this thread but I didn't want to start a new one for the same old question.
I'm looking to chip+clip my wii and would like advice on the chip that will give me the least hassle and most compatability. my serial is LEH137845772 and the response is
Your Drive Chip is most likely GC2-D2C.
Your Drive Pins are most likely not cut.
How reliable is this? if this is correct what do people recommend?
Warmest Regards.

you have a d2c chipset ,you can take your pick ,d2pro9 v2 , wasabi v2 , aragon, couple of others but there a load of poop, d2pro9 have good support ,wasabi tend not to be so quick but there chip is solid , aragon are also solid with the earlier version chips too. i would go for the d2pro9 my self ,the choice is yours to make.

Go read the posts on wiinewz.com there are lots of users there of all chips but like the guys said before Wasabi and D2Pro are the most popular. You can't go wrong with either one.

anytime an update is released, ensure that the firmware on the mod chip is compatible.
right now any updated chip should work fine with the latest wii update
