Everyone who subscribes to AOL Cable's service should be shot....or at least those who choose to. Many of us are forced for a variety of reasons. Aol's non-standard Cable connections do not allow a DHCP connection to the internet, thus forcing users to sign on using AOL's software. BIG PROBLEM. What about wifi-enabled devices that do not support an AOL sign on screen. There is no AOL software for game consoles, for example. What about PDA's. Should internet access be restricted from these devices. Well I thought not. There are ways that have been posted with advanced steps and other confusing chatter, but I have found a simple solution that will allow you to achieve the once thought impossible. Here are the steps! 1.) Find Your IP address. Your individual computers address should appear (if on a network) something like 192.168.1.XXX. Mine for example was 192.168.1.101. Double click on the network connection icon in the tray and go to support. If you can't find it, look up a guide on how to..this is supposed to be the easy step. 2.) Connect to AOL Broadband Cable. We will be setting up a proxy server and must be connected to share the internet. 3.) Download and Install AnalogX here (http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/network/proxy.htm) The link that you click on that site is just the large words PROXY. 4.) Install without changing any options. Intall everything it asks you about. 5.) Open up AnalogX. A tray icon will appear. Wait for it to turn green. You can do some configuring in the configuration menu, but it is not necessary. 6.) Once green, start up your gaming console. I do not know what systems support proxies, but I was using a PSP, so this is what I will explain. 7.) Name your connection and scan for the SSID 8.) Choose automatic for everything. 9.) Go to advanced IP address settings 10.) Make everything its default until you get to USE PROXY. In the address box put your computer's IP (192.168.1.XXX) 11.) Under PORT put 6588 (unless otherwise stated in a new version's readme) 12.) Test your connection and you should be set. 13.) ENJOY THE FULL POWER OF THE PSP!!!!!!

Okay, I am sad to report this does NOT work for me. Although here is how my network is set up.
Cable Modem > Belking Wireless G Router > 3 Computers (One Being Mine With AnalogX)
Does that work or do I have to be directly connected to the internet (cable modem) and have a wireless network card or USB on my computer?
If it works the way I have my network already set up I will be in awe!
Thanks,
MANHUNT

your set-up seems to be fine. you MUST be signed onto AOL on the computer with the AnalogX server. From there, the only think that I can think of is that you must enter the proxy information correctly. Don't know how to do that with the PS2, but for PSP, just enter 19.2168.1.XXX....where xxx is your last 1-3 digits) and the proper port (6588). Like I said, this is confirmed working for the PSP, but other consoles are unkown at this time. Good luck!

I personally do not know if this works, because for one all I have to do on my PSP is manually set up the proxy everything else Automatic. When I goto set the proxy it looks like a name is suppose to be under Address. Also when I test the connection it says failed.
Okay, well my computers IP is 192.168.2.2 so would I type in 192.168.2.2 or something else and where you type that in it looks like you are suppose to type in a name or something not an IP address.

I feel sorry for you guys. AOL UK has allowed its users to use routers with DHCP for months.. , and NEVER signed on with the AOL software! i used to have my DSL with them till my computer turned to me and said "You idiot.. you moved to AOL?!? - no more free tech support, and its all been outsourced to india?!?" - so i moved :D

EXACTLY WHAT I THOUGHT! I thought the same thing when looking at it, but, desperate for a solution, i typed in my IP with the periods and put the port 6588 and it worked. Believe me, I have never been been able to get internet connection with my psp or any other hardware device without aol's software. It works!

CrazyIrtalian I would like to know how your network is setup. Because I highly doubt it is going to work for me. Again this is how my network is setup.
-Cable Modem Goes Into Belkin Wireless G Router
-3 Computers Are Connected To The Router Through Ethernet (1 of them Being Mine With AnalogX)
See I believe this works, but not for how my network is setup, I think your network is setup like this
-Cable Modem Connects Directly To Your Computer With AnalogX
-You Have A Wireless Card or Wireless USB in Your Computer To Broadcast Signal

Nope, mine is set up directly like yours. I have a cable modem located in a study room in my house. From there it connects to the router. The router then broadcasts a WIRELESS and WIRED signal. 3 computers are connected through the routers wired signal. One of which is mine. AnalogX is on my computer. The three computers have Network IP addresses of 192.168.1.101, 192.168.102, 192.168.103) The first being mine. Obviously my internet connection is then activate on my computer through aol's service, through the proxy, into the router, and broadcasted wirelessly to my PSP. It looks like this....
CABLE MODEM----->ROUTER (wireless/wired WRT54G) -------> Ethernet to Computers--------->AOL Connection Estbalished Using AOL software
-------> AnalogX running on same computer where internet service is established-------->Proxy is then broadcasted automatically to router----> Router then sends wirelss signal out to console------->Console connects wirelessly to the proxy.
Thats the best I can explain it. I really don't understand why it isnt working for you. Only thing I can think of is that you dont have a wireless/Wired router. Good luck and post any new findings.

Well, it does not work, again I goto test everything but Internet Connection is succesfull. Although I am thinking it has something to do with my router if anyone has any idea how I could get this working on my PSP please post.
Router = Belkin Belkin F5D7230-4 (Wireless G Router)
