Enterbain pres: Xbox 360 needs more variety to become more successful

Speaking in an interview, the big boss of Japanese publication company Entertbain indicated that the Xbox 360 should have a wider variety of games in order to become more succesful as a system. He also noted MGS is fuelling PS3 sales and another price cut will ensure acceleration of the PS3's installed base.


As for the lagging Xbox 360, Hamamura says it's all down to offering Japanese gamers more choice.

"I think there aren't as many gamers allergic to games from overseas today as there were in the past. Instead, hardcore gamers are paying avid attention to Xbox 360 titles. I consider the 360 should have a wider variety of games under its belt to become more successful as a system," said Hamamura.

i agree but the lack of quality in the xbox360 games is what making the huge quantity hollow & empty compared to the quality of the smaller variety available on Wii & PS3.:)

lol not only does the xbox 360 have higher rated games, it has the most games this gen as well as the most highest rated. Hardware might suck but it has by far has the best game library this gen.
Half the ps3 games are ports of xbox 360 games.

Sorry but the Wii & PS3 games have the FUN factor for all,the xbox360 is a serious console like pc known only for brutal fps games,i'm also sure this is what the boss of the japanese publication company entertbain is on about.

The PS3 is fun, what fun games are there? By you posts you have made ,it's quite clear that you dont like the 360, so your comments are not worth anything.

Ummm NO. Japan doesn't like outsiders coming in and trying to stealing there market hold. Their government helps the Japanese corporations quite a bit, unlike the US and UK.

As far as Higher standards? I'm gonna have to disagree somewhat on that. I can't tell you how many sh*t PMP players come out of japan. Yea they look nice, but quit working or theres krap between the screen and the cover for example. And don't even get started on all the CCD camcorder displays and Toshiba, Sony batteries that have been recalled of the YEARS.

So, I think that there quality control sucks just as much as the west.

I think all systems would benefit from a wider variety of games. I think his point is, Of all the huge 360 games that are worth mentioning, how many are FPS or FPS RPGs? We don't get all excited over every 360 release..but all the names that matter have for the most part been FPS or FPS esque games.

That is very true, it's like all the games depend on First Person View (excluding 2 or 3 games); regardless, the 360 does in fact have more variety this time around. The Wii is probably the screwiest console ever since good games sell like crap compared to mindless, shallow, idiotic games... there's exceptions of course, but the way I see it the more idiotic the game is, the better its chances of selling well. The ps3 has a few good games, but in all honesty 2/3 of the ps3's library is made of FPS games, which to me is so ironic that it sometimes makes me want to cry (being a ps3 owner myself).

I do however think that in a few years one or possibly both (ps3/wii) will have a more varied library, but I don't think that's the case right now. If he's saying it without comparing it to the ps3's or the wii's library he has more of a point. The only reason the 360's library looks more varied is because the other 2 machines' libraries are so limited.

Unless things have really changed in the past 5 years the Japanese are pretty deep into senseless games as well when I was ther the most popular genres were dating sims, hanafuda games, turn based rpg's and fighting games. Its not a matter of higher standards its just different tastes.
