View Full Version : Xbox 360 Wii remote is a reality, but is it an official product?
A prototype for an Xbox 360 motion sensing controller can be found at hardware developer Motus. However, it is not clear if this is an official Xbox 360 accessory that we've been expecting or a third party product that Motus has just gone on and developed themselves. The description of the product takes a number of swipes at the Ninteno Wii remote. Check it out at Motusgames.com.

This thing completley misses the point. Besides its 3rd party... it will not be supported by many devs.
MS already denied developing of am official motion controller.. So this could be what the rumors are all about.. all tho... MS denying something doesnt mean it is not happeneing.. They have denied stuff before that turned out to be true..
Ms would be better off leaving well enough alone... bring out superior motion controls next gen... Adding another controller to the mix this late in the game is not a guarantee. It can backfire on them. Especially if their so called controller is a wii remote carbon copy.

you guys are crazy. If they brought out some good games on either the 360 or PS3 with the graphics that those consoles can do, and a motion detector that was actually any good I wouldnt give a toss what it looked like. When I see that I think lightsabre game.......
Anyone who has a wii now knows the terrible truth about how crap the motion sensing is - fine for party games but there will never be a good sword fighting game out using that controller.

terrible truth is: anyone who thought it is possible to motion capture exact realtime movements, then translate that into exact realtime animations on a home video game console is seriously delisional... No offense to anyone...
But i never thought the Wii would be able to do that. Anyone who did is seriosuly dreaming up BS. All nintendo said, was motion and pointer control would allow for greater immersion. Never once did they say realtime 1:1 sword fighting where every movement would be represented on screen... That is seriously just not possible with any wii remote like device.. I dont know who in their right mind would think it is.
Dont think this controller can do it either... This controller is no more capable than the wii remote... Its actually less.. It has no pointing device for aiming. Which is by far one of the wii remotes best features.

Read "Prototype" - doesn't look too bad but will hopefully look a better when released.
The detaching halves look like a great idea; Darth Maul with two light sabres, fishing games, or two players.
For it to be released, they must have some sort of deal with Microsoft as they will need the protection chip in it.
Hopefully it will have a higher specified accelerometer in it than the Wii to give more accuracy.

None of that will give you what you want, if it's 1:1 you're after then better look for some other technology that's NOT used in the wiimote. havig a sightly upgraded wiimote wil give the exact smae "problems" as you get with the wiimote -the waggle, but even then it's down to the developers, many of whom can't be arsed with an official pack in controller, so now they will suddenly embrace a 3rd party knock-off. Time to get real.

There are many demos on the PC that use the wiimote, any lag you might get is probably down to the dead-zone or smoothing, because the exact readings from a wiimote are jittery, especialy as the controller is hand-held.
People complained about tiring arms, when all you need were small relative movements, with 1:1 you WILL need to move 1:1 or else, that way they really will get tired!
