View Full Version : Xbox 360 RRoD fixed by simply putting it in a fridge
David Bhulapatna of IDG Entertainment mailed in to let us know his folks managed to fix a RRoD on the 360 for a short time by simply putting it into the fridge. He assures us that he is not a fan of viral marketing and you can view the video at <A href="

Easy fix for you if you have tried everything correctly and it didnt work;
Sell it and get a new one..
or
Send it to MS.
You have to think...
If you have tried every commercialy available option to fix a MAJOR hardware problem.. common sense would tell you that either get rid of it and get a new one, or send it to the manufacturer to fix.
I for one understand that if you are broke it is hard to do one or the other of these, but most of you people on here that whine are kids who send all your parents money so.....

If you want you can also add an extra fan from XCM

what you use voids the warranty and cost more then just one big 200mm fan blowing on the bottom to stop the motherboard from flexing.

Just a few things,
1. I am not a whiny little kid who gets money from parents, I'm an adult who gets his own money.
2. My xbox 360 has no warranty so sending it to microsh!t is out of the window.
3. I have actually fixed it without any proper repair.
I took the case of, removed the fan and the cooling tunnel, placed the fan above either the gpu or cpu (the one with the big heat sink) turned it on for 5 min allowed the one under the dvd drive to heat up too much while blowing cold air onto the other, shut it off for 2 min and boom! It worked, Ive been playing forza 2, graw 2, ninja gaiden 2 and halo 3 for hours and hours since yesterday and not one fault!
So, if anyone has the rrod, cant afford a proper fix and has no warranty, try this, I cant explain how it worked, it just did, also I don't know how long it will last for but so far, not a problem.

The broken BGA points melted a bit, fixing the connections. Since the xclamps are warping the board, they will break again. Sorry dude.

Yeah your right, it happened again, but I found a fix and its been running non stop since, quieter and quicker than ever.
I shaved off some of the casing to the fans so it fits in the chassis back wards blowing cold air into the xbox with 2 high power fans pulling air out on the bottom & side, drilled 25 1.5mm wide holes into my side casing and smoothened them out to keep it looking clean and, well like its meant to be there, its been running all day, with the internal of my system running nice and cool, hot air coming out in 2 areas and cool air being blown in through the original fans, been playing ninja gaiden 2 like theres no tomorrow since, also, better still, is that the 2 fans that blow the air out are powered by the xbox's usb ports as they just plug in and they work well, and silently, my consoles been dead for ages and I'm just glad I figured a way to get it running, even if it only lasts a week or so.
I wouldn't recommend doing what Ive done to anyones console as its pretty much breaking it apart and just trying your luck with it, but after one of my mates did a similar thing but left the casing off to keep it cool I tried out the extra fans and the extra holes, but if you've no other choice like me, it might be a quick fix for anyone who wants to try it, only took about 30 min.
Just so people don't try taking a dig at me.
I DO NOT CLAIM THIS IS A PERMANENT FIX, ONLY A TEMPORARY ONE AND IS NOT GUARANTEED TO WORK.
I was simply just lucky I guess.

I have a semi dead 360 i can mostly revive whenever i want by just warping the board and heating it up. It's not really worth it though since it doesn't last too long before it dies again. I'm not buying another one until they're made to last.

There's an unique fix i saw available in Malaysia. They replace the GPU with new GPU and new soldering. It currently works and even fix "dead" (or non-revivable) 360. Maybe you guys can check it out and give your opinion.
