Xabora posted up some rumors regarding potential upcoming Xbox stuff. The Xbox 360 will be slimming down to a Wii like size, this model should have a GPU and CPU combo dye with E-DRAM off to the side. Next up is the model after the 360 that is expected to have a Blu-ay drive, quad core CPU, 1TB hard drive and a sepculative release date of 2010.

Today I ran across some information.
However I do live in an area with a good deal of employees/contractors from a rather large corporation and have worked with some of them in my past.

So lets start off with some of the info I was given starting with the 360 in general.
From what I was told during a conversation;
Microsoft seems to be slimming the system down to a 'Wii-like' size. (A Fat overweight Wii )
This model should have the CPU+GPU Combo Dye with the E-DRAM off to the side.
Thats all the information I have on that.

Now I'm not 100% sure on this so do not get hyped up, but speculated release is Late Winter 2008ish?
Side note, ATI/AMD has been working on a CPU/GPU Combo dye for sometime.

As for the Xbox,
The model after the currently existing Xenon/360... that is expected to have a Blu-Ray Drive?, 1TB HDD, and a Quad-Core CPU.
Speculative Date is considered 2010~.
(Considering its still early these are most likely to change.)
They also mentioned the spec sheet for the console was leaked. ?

Lastly, the handheld xbox-like device. As far as I know its considered a "Pie-in-the-sky".

O look another Xbox thread that has the compulsory pre-pubescent "RROD" comment. Guess thats all some have to cling too when it comes to trying to say something negative about the Xbox and M$. As for the OP, 2010 wouldnt suprise me in the slightest and as long as it improves on todays gaming standards then i see nothing wrong with it and would end up buying one within the first year.

I'd like to see a slimmer 360 and if Jasper is what its touted to be than achieving a wii-like size should be obtainable. 2010 sounds a little soon for a new console...I can see it announced then and maybe dev kits going out but I just dont see it being that early when jasper is still nearly a year away.

As for the terabyte drive, etc...i really hope that kind of crap isnt true we already have one console struggling due to the weight of its own plethora of extra crap many dont need, why follow that route? Yea 1tb would be nice but think about the costs, even with the rate drives a dropped a full tb notebook sized drive is between $250-400 and even if it dropped to half that within the next year or so it would still be pretty much cost prohibitive unless they were brave enough to go the PS3 route (which I dont think even sony will ever do again).

xbox 360 thread=RROD comment...

But, I would say that 2010 is way to early for a new xbox! 2011-2012 I'd say is better.. :)
And, a slim 360 sounds sweet, but I guess they'll wait for Sony to make the move.. Maybe we hear something about it on E3.. :)

microsoft already have 65nm GPU , so no more RROD for sure & lower cost ;) price is going down in less then a month.

here is some info :
1st Generation: Xenon (2005-2006, launch machines)
90nm CPU and 90nm GPU, heatsink has since been modified, no HDMI

2nd Generation: Zephyr (2006-2007)
HDMI ports introduced on some machines, heatsinks revised

3rd Generation: Falcon (2007-present)
65nm CPU and 90nm GPU, includes HDMI

4th Generation: Jasper (TBC, expected this year) , we will see it next month
65nm CPU and 65nm GPU, includes HDMI , Very possible GPU will be 55nm not 65nm.

5th Generation: Opus (TBC) , Opus ??? hmmm ... okay...
65nm CPU and 65nm GPU, no HDMI, further heatsink revision, reconditioned Falcon but in a Xenon casing

6th Generation: Valhalla (TBC) The SLIM XBOX360 :D
Combined 65nm CPU and 65nm GPU, single heatsink, includes HDMI

it is not about a new version of xbox 360, but the next microsoft console. And i believe it is just hooax.

If you take a look at the techonical advantages from generation over generation, this one would suck hard.
Even with OoO processors, vector units, more hard drive... wouldn't make the technological jump often seen in consoles.

Playstations, fo instance, every generation has the clock increased in about 10 times. not to mention more processors to help the calculations.

This guy's grammar and sentence structure is terrible. If he worked with microsoft employees and contractors, he must have some serious technical skills, to make up for his lack of high school English education.

Slim 360 is just what I've been waiting for, althought they still don't have any interesting games yet. Just this teenage (oh so "mature") violence and other similar realistic unimaginative crap (sorry fanboys). No games for the actual mature taste. So no thanks, even if it works. And if it works it would mean the end of all this public 360 beta-testing.

And about the successor: Knowing Microsoft and how they desperately want to make profit I predict they will do like Nintendo and re-release the 360 as 720 (or other equally stoopid name) with extra core and extra GPU pipelines and ofcourse their own motion controller. If they want to make it a HD entertainment hub then they should include a 5TB 5,25" drive because 1TB is only enough for like 100 HD movies if there's nothing else in there. So I think they will do like Nintendo once again and go for small SSD.

i'll be in line for the next one, even with all the rrodbots spewing their same old, same old crap. come up with something new guys.

also, it's common sense that the next box will have bluray, it'll be the standard by 2010 anyway, so why not include it. the nextbox (TM) will also be out in mid / late 2010, and sony has to follow and i'm sure they will.

also a slim 360 i'm sure (wii size) will not be happening, unless some serious die shrinkage and cooling tech comes out in the next 6 months.

personally i'd like to see a standard box config for all consoles, i'd like to be able to stack them in a home stereo rack. the rounded, oblong casing of new consoles makes them crap at trying to integrate them into an existing home audio system.

I think your info is incorrect then again a lot of it is due to rumor. An example is opus is supposed to be a 65 nm cpu (the shrink that happened) and a 90nm gpu.
Could be wrong :)

*downloads PGR 6*
*goes to the year 2016*
*screen says: 3 more minutes to finish downloading*
*waits*
*starts the game*
*goes back to 2008*

hey hey this isnt rumors about the PS4...
nah thats just a rumor the real ps4 is: 20HMDI, runs off nothing, achieves 1gazillion petaflops per seconds... runs 2000 CELL CPU's.. and a redesigned RSX that is equivalent to 1000 CELL CPU's.. everything will be wireless (electricity, video out, hdmi out etc.. etc..) and the controllers will be your mind...

thats it folks.. wait for your PS4

PS: the size will be 1cm by 1cm by 1cm... trust me on this :)
