K-Mart stores have discounted the discontinued Xbox 360 HD DVD player to just $5. So if you ever wanted a piece of Xbox 360 ancient history, then now is the time to snap it up!

K-Mart stores have discounted Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360 HD DVD Player to $5.00 as the retailer moves remaining units of the defunct high-definition peripheral.

A buyer on the discount website Slickdeals.net purchased an Xbox 360 HD DVD Player for $5.00 in Greensboro, NC.

The device, which allows Xbox 360 owners to play Toshiba Corp.'s HD DVD format titles, launched in Nov. 2006 for $199.99.

It was later discounted to $179.99 in a price war against Sony Corp.'s Blu-ray disc format.

The included remote alone is worth that much imho.
Plus you might find some cheap HDDVD offers since nobody needs them anymore.

I miss the whole Blu-ray vs HD-DVD thing.

My buddy bought 9 HD-DVD add-ons and made a coffee table with a glass tabletop and steel legs. If I can get a photo of it, I'll post it here, it's actually pretty cool. He set the HD-DVD players to have the disc trays facing outwards so it can be used as cup holders. He even redesigned the tray so that it's more sturdier. It's like the centerpiece for his games room.

I believe it upconverts regular DVDs as well. For $5, it's a bargain. Plus, HD-DVDs are still readily available and generally cheap. I'm gonna stop by K-Mart tomorrow and see if I can find one.

It upconverts DVD's and comes with a $20 remote control that works great for using my 360 to stream videos from my PC to my TV

Also is K-Mart is selling for $5 is Sears as well seeing how they are owned by the same company now

Yeah and it also say's it is out of stock too ... why change the online price on a disco item when it will never be replenished .. it should just be removed.

And I'm sure if you look around you will find it in stores ...

Checked all 3 K-Marts in my town and no Hd-Dvd players.

Asked the people working in the Game section and they laughed and said they haven't had them for months.

So I don't think you're going to find any for $5.
