Anyway the game does not load without the music pak file, you get an disc read error, so unless someone can edit the ALL.PAK file and downsize it by removing unwanted code, there is no way to play this on a 1gb stick...

I got it to fit too with umd emulator 8.0c (though the menu.bmp didnt fit :rolleyes: )..but it won't run..it just freezes. There's not enough space to fit fastloader on there :(

Maybe im doing something wrong or whatever but to get it to fit you have to first format the memory stick, delete the update folder, delete the movies and finally inside USRDIR theres a file titled musicpsp.pak...delete that too :P. You can dummy them or whatever, I did. So yeah hopefully someone can get it to run......

now, there is only 2 ways to solve this:

1 is to get a really small proper pmf video clip and replace them with the current video clips, so the game plays them no problem (the smallest pmf file i know of is 250kb or so, which is the 'EA Games' video, but even that is too big, we need one that is at least 30-50kb!)

and

2 is to edit to boot files so that it uses the same video every time it wants a video clip to play the same one - i had a look at that hex editing stuff and it looked confusing.

another one would be to invest in a 2gb memory stick ... but sod that :o

well, i tried the same stuff (dump musicpsp.dak-movies-update folder) i've put fastloader on my stick and after the startingscreen it asks: Disk Error. Please Insert Disk. so no working Pursuit Force here:(:(

the size after dumping the files as you told i still had about 964Kb. on Pursuit Force.iso and only put fastLoader on the stick. (after formatting first the memory stick.)

either that is a very small video file, or it has already been dummied - if we need a ripkit to get the video file that small, then its been dummied, i'll have a look anyways!

thats the same video i was using, but the whole problem lies in the boot.bin searching for the pak files, look through the bin u will see what i mean. In all honesty i think its going to take a work of genius to get this to play on 1gb, if it were easy enough for the every day person to do it, lightforce would have definitely had it out by now...think its just time to buy a 2gb....

Finding a Pak editor isn't the problem, the problem is that this particular pak file happens to be encrypted to ****, and it would seem that a custom tool would be required to open and edit it.

yeah i tried the 4 pak editors i could find...there is 1 program i still never found that said it could unpak a pak file, but i didnt think that is what was needed anyway so i stopped looking for itl

didnt know if its done befor, but if u open the musik.pak with an editor it show u in the first line "C:\Workdir\Game03\CDIMAGE_PSP\Data"
and late it gives us some lines as

"Music\M25_Briefing_IT.at3"
"Music\M26_Briefing_IT.at3"
"Music\M27_Briefing_IT.at3"


maybe u can edit something with an editor to shrink it,, or just leave some lines in the pak file.... not just to dummy it with a blank 0kb one?!

It is, it's like I said, this is a repeat of what Sony did in the early days of PS2 piracy when DVD to CDRips were the style, Konami placed the majority of the data required for games such as ZOE in encrypted bin files which took the hacking community months to open and manipulate.

I think that the only way this is gonna run for now is from a higher capacity stick.

Just my two cents. I have a 2GB mem stick. So I can play the game. When you run it, the starting movies are linked with the music.pak because when the gig logo and the Pursuite Force logo is shon, the background music starts which is continued in the main trailer of the game. So I also think, the only way to run the game fron a 1GB stick is to unpack the pak files. So I wish you much luck and hope someone is getting that :)

Mini pre-review

I played Pursuit Force last night for the first time, using a 1.2GB iso and my Datel 4GB HD. Game is technically impressive in that framerate is ridiculously high at 333MHZ and detailed at the same time. I wasn't very impressed with the gameplay, however. The "career' mode where you chase bad guys is much worse than it sounds. You basically close in on a given car from behind, hit the circle button to jump from your car to his once an onscreen message tells you to do so, use one button after that to shoot him and another to duck from his fire, then drive his car to close in on the next baddy up ahead and repeat button sequence. During the fighting I had no need to use the analog nub or d-pad, and options *seem* (I didn't play for more than 30 minutes) to be limited to the above.

The racing itself wasn't too bad - what with the high framerates and forgiving controls - and a race-only mode is available, however one is compelled (like it or not) to play career mode in order to unlock tracks and vehicles in "race" and "time trial". Thus one cannot simply resolve to use the game solely as a fun racer with fantasy arcade physics (like those of Twisted Metal or MC3). One must repeatedly engage in the series of dinky, bland law enforcement episodes which constitute the bulk of the designer's intended gameplay experience. Personally I prefer more realistic physics and pure racing, or at-least all-out gratuitously over-the-top wreckage a la Burnout, but if you like crime-enforcement themed fantasy racers with a good 3D engine under the hood, you might very well enjoy this game for a while.

I've already deleted the expanded file, so if there's actually much more depth to this game than first met the eye, I won't be finding out anytime soon.

Ok here comes a new theory.
Most of the time (in the pc world) games work the same way when you use the compressed pak files, and the uncpressed files.

How does this apply on Poursuit Force:
Opening the music pak file with a hex editor, you will be able to see the folder tree and an index of the files in the pak.

So the idea it to recreate the folder structure, and then to use fake files matching names you got from ultraedit.

I don't think that'd fly. It probably "mounts" the .pak file and accesses it directly. Besides, if you knew where each file began and ended within the .pak file, you'd be able to clip out the parts you didn't want.

the actual size we need to get the game to is 947mb, my sandisk memory stick can hold 949mb or so, but about 0.5mb is needed for UMD Emulator - although the game has one big file that is 944mb and that is uneditable. and theres an audio file that is 50mb and the game needs that.

so the only solution is to edit both PAK files to be much smaller, but its proving to be tricky.

ok i have been looking at the forum about these pak files.and how they cant be opened.
i used a program called dragon unpacker 5 to open both pak files.and it says theirs 8 thousand + files but may be the program wasnt reading them to well but it open them couldnt see any thing speical or any thing to rip.
but im sure someone with a great knowleage might be able to do something.

also the people who made the midnight club rip to 600+mb is this the same thing i tryed using that rip kit but it stopped after a while so maybe a little tweek to the rip is needed.

i have just found a mov file that is over 300mbs

I have a 1.5 psp and the datel 4gb hard drive. no matter which loader i use to boot the iso when the first save file screen pops up and I hit X the thing freezes then turns off. this is the only game on there so there is plenty of space left. anyone know why this might be happening???

hello so if i hexedit the pak file it will tell me what the files are i am at the min extracting the pak file to my desktop if i keep it in order i can see what the files are called in a hexediter and delete as fit sorry if this sound like a crock of crap its just i have read everywhere that these files cant be opened and this program lets you go inside the pak file so it just a shot.

pspcrazy: If you extract the pak and the files are the same, then maybe it extracted it correctly... although, you still have to delete the ones you don't want (all of 'em?) and create a new pak file. Which program are you using? Somehow I doubt it'll work.

hope it helps as for deleting thats easy part trail and error its remaking the pak i think would be the hardiest but i know nothing about programming but maybe some really good programmer can make a engine to read the pak file a little better from this program or like the old quake engine that reads the pak files

I managed to make a MusicPSP.pak with dummy .at3 files. It works fine and the game is booting. Size of the dummied .pak is 45,592 bytes. I'll try to have a 1gb ripkit out soon. I'm still running into a couple of issues with the .pmf files.

It is called Experimental Plugin Ext Reb Tool. - was made on the request of zabbyh - a plugin was made for this game to be used in this program..

Within the Sound folder in the All.PAK file under speech folder.. There is alot of other language audio which can be dummied.. This folder is around 150MB.. Now when these files have been dummied the ALL.PAK file generated is 824MB in size...

Again the same tool can be used to open the Music pak file . removing the briefing files for all other languages will get you half the size = 25MB

create a new folder


in that folder create a new text file and copy the following lines into it:

IF NOT EXIST DUMMY mkdir DUMMY
FOR %%A IN (*) DO TYPE > DUMMY\%%A
Del DUMMY\dummy.bat

save the file as dummy.bat


put all files to be dummied in the new folder. run dummy.bat and you will have dummies of all the files in a new folder called DUMMY

Thank you so much shakoor_h fo all your clever advice, i finally manage to open that .pak and dummy all the language ( at least enough to make it fit), and rebuild it, first i didn't suceed in rebuidind tne file but it was only because each time i extracted the file i closed the program and you have to leave it open while you rip the .pak in order to rebuild it.

If i knew how to make a ripkit i would be glad to share it ( cause it's really a pain in the *** to dummy each file), but if you read at all the reply from shakoor_h you should manage to do it :cool:

dummied the files in both the music pak and the all pak, remade them just fine, saved alot of space, then remade the iso with vcdromx turned out to be 911 megs but now i get disc error again, so not sure what to try next....

btw to quickly dummy all the files use vcdrom extension add all teh files into it then choose empty, choose 0 byte and use this amount each time choosing empty, then highlight all your files and do it to them all, then create the fcd make it into an iso, and then extract the iso. Seemed the quickest and easiest way to me. Also i dummied all the ge,fr,it,sp languge files in both the all and music pak files..so no idea whats wrong, incase i didnt remember to make a new LBA on 1 of them...

In order to get rid of the other language you must dummy the file and not delete them otherwise you will always get an error mesage

How to make dummy files?

make one Text-file in a new folder, in this text write

IF NOT EXIST DUMMY mkdir DUMMY
FOR %%A IN (*) DO TYPE > DUMMY\%%A
Del DUMMY\dummy.bat

Then save it in dummy.bat, and now all you have to do is put the file you wanna dummy in your new folder and you click on the file it's easy :cool:

I cant this to work with UMD Emu. 0.8c but I have no idea why. The .iso emulation mode is system menu but everytime I press X on the UMD icon on the main page it plays the UMD in the drive. In my case its Midnight Club 3. Im trying loads of different settings but still no dice. It just plays MC3. Its really pissing off. Im gonna throw my PSP out the fucking window in a minute.

The files you dummy in the Speech folder to 0kb with the Ext Reb Tool. Once Rebuilt will automatically be relinked to a file of the same extension. Hence it is not 0kb if you try to extract again you will realise this..

if you rip your game in keeping english language and videos, your PSP will have to be in english (for example) cuz Pursuit Force is very crafty, he knows the actual PSP's language and it launches the game whitout asking you which one do you want

so be careful because it will bug in game or in loading

yeah i have trouble using those ripkits too, i have to reboot and shut down erverything then it usually will work fine. And if they dont work for you, you can just make your own rip like i did, get the pak editor listed few pages ago and downsize both the all.pak and the msuicpsp.pak by dummying all the language files opposite the language your using, and then get the 18k pmf file and replace the movies with oppposite language in them with the 18k pmf. finally remove the update folder and remake with vcdromx, will be 910 megs and will have all music, speech, videos....o i think i also replaced the vids called something like pursuitforcepreview or something like that with 18k pmf, only vids i left was the studios 1, and the 1's regarding the missions...

and the 947 rip works also ive tested that 1 too, just no music...so that 947 1 should work...

nice work on your ripkit, but it being 931 megs makes me wonder if you downsized the MusicPSP.PAK file also? The final size with everything non english related removed should be right around 910 megs....

but again great work, for the person that gets confused easily this is a welcomed ripkit....

ayant poursuit force en 1.15 Go, j'ai prit le ripkit 826 Mo j'ai lancé le .bat ce qui ma donnée une iso de 826 Mo mais elle est us donc je me suis dit il y a une possibilité.

j'ai donc récupéré sur le forum de max console le rip kit multilangue.

j'ai extrait de mon iso original les 2 fichier.pak ( all.pak et musicpsp.pak).

une fois extrait j'ai dézippé le ripkit multilangue et utilisé la langue que je voulais ce qui ma reduit mes 2 fichier pak.

une foisa terminé j'ai extrait mon iso de 826 Mo dans un repertoire et j'ai prit mes 2 fichier pak ( passé par le ripkit all language)que j'ai remplacer dans mon iso de 826 Mo extrait ensuit j'ai récupéré vcd romx ou j'ai reconstruit mon iso qui au final fait 883 Mo j'ai enlever tous les jeux que j'avais sur ma 1 Go et j'ai mit mon iso recompilé dans le repertoire umd emulator ios une fois transferer j'ai lancer umd emulateur 0.8 et lancer l'iso.

une fois sa fait j'arrive dans le jeux en français puisque c'est la langue chaoisit et me restant 55 Mo d'espace disque sur ma memory stick je peut sauvegarder facilement

a savoir que la manipe fonctionne pour toute les langues du all pack language

I extracted from my original Iso the 2 fichier.pak (all.pak and musicpsp.pak). once extracted I dézippé the ripkit multilangue and used the language which I wanted what my reduit my 2 file pak. a foisa finished I extracted my Iso of 826 Mo in a repertoire and I have took my 2 file pak (past by the language)que ripkit all I have to replace in my Iso of 826 extracted Mo follows I recovered vcd romx or I rebuilt my Iso which with final makes 883 Mo I have to remove all the plays that I had on my 1 Go and I have put my Iso recompilé in the repertoire umd emulator ios once transferer I have to launch umd emulator 0.8 and to launch the Iso. once his fact I arrive in the French plays since it is the language chaoisit and remaining to me 55 Mo of disk space on my memory stick I can safeguard easily has to know that the manipe functions for all the languages of the good all pack language plays with all while hoping to have helped you.

Yeah I put all the files in the folder, and it still didnt work. So I used the other thread and made my own rip and it came out to about 941MB and it has everything I need... that took me about 2 hours to do though to rip the thingies in All.pak... dummying file after file for all the extra languages was quite tedious. it was worth it though, I love this game... reminds me of Chase HQ.

when loading the iso up in 0.8c under system menu it just takes me straight back to psp menu, game doesnt even load.

running under fl0.7 the game loads up untill where it says accessing mem stick then it freezes.

dude read the umd emulator readme. if you selct system menu, it sends you back tot he psp main screen. after that go to the umd icon and you will see pursuit force.

2) Download the any language rip kit found in this thread
3) Dump the UMD to an ISO
4) Extract all the files from the ISO to a directory (eg. X:\PF)
5) Go to X:\PF\PSP_GAME\SYSDIR and delete the UPDATE directory
6) Go to X:\PF\PSP_GAME\USRDIR
7) Copy the contents of the ripkit rar file to this directory
8) Double-click French.bat (if it exits/stops quickly you probably have a cygwin.dll somewhere on your system, find it and rename it or delete it)
9) French.bat will create 2 new version of the 2 .pak files, delete the old and rename the new (just remove .out at the end)
10) Go to X:\PF\PSP_GAME\USRDIR\MOVIES and delete:
- Killer66_Win_EN.pmf
- Killer66_Win_SP.pmf
- Killer66_Win_IT.pmf
- Killer66_Win_GR.pmf

That's exactly what I did ... Except one thing, i deleted the content of UPDATE not the folder. I will try this evening to see if it makes any difference.

I got it to fit too with umd emulator 8.0c (though the menu.bmp didnt fit :rolleyes: )..but it won't run..it just freezes. There's not enough space to fit fastloader on there :(

edit: now i've got a black screen

Maybe im doing something wrong or whatever but to get it to fit you have to first format the memory stick, delete the update folder, delete the movies and finally inside USRDIR theres a file titled musicpsp.pak...delete that too :P. You can dummy them or whatever, I did. So yeah hopefully someone can get it to run......


i downloaded the spanish ver 946 mb used umdo.8c but got blank screen after first screen ...little tip[...if your using uk psp change ur language to spanish and hey presto it works

I think i tried 100 times now! all the possibles ways! i can't make it to work, The game block at the mem card loading screen et turn the psp off after 5 or 6 secondes.
Plz someone, help! if its a foreign language version you downloaded make shure you set your psp to that language ...this game irritated me all sunday kept on freezing whaen trying to load game changed my psp to spanish and it works,pitty the only spanish i know is supermacados ...but it works after 10 hours trying,to tiered to play the sodding thing now yaaaaaawn..

Ok I Just Used the multi language rip kit for english and it ripped the iso down to 860mb and when i press x when it shows you the icon and that it means auto save it just shuts off. i have 1.5 and am using both fastloader and umdemulato 8.0c please some one help me soon :confused:

umd emu o.8c make shure you dont direct load use sytem boot psp will then go back to menu,go to your umd and it will have changed to pursuit force

go here the 826mb ripkit but you have to use it on the 1.12gb iso

No you have to use system menu to get it to work. That option is in umd 8.c so what is the problem :confused:

if i set it on system menu and open the ps.iso it says UMD disc isn't region code free ... that's because it's a movie i think. and no Umd game pop's up on the screen. (i get that message 2 when i jump out of a game when in umd emulator.)

no i tried messing around with the region code overide: set it to europe with umd emulator.
and UMD: set it to video

Is there Any ripkit for pursuit force that only rips out all other languages except english even in th musik.pak file if so can someone please up load it i have tried the one for specific languages but it say that there are 2 of the same files but there isnt and it wont rip it

i hope people find this thread and skip past the first few pages to the real answers.

Since it seems most people here have successfully made this rip work, can someone tell me why I have no music? I used the english rip pack out of that download I found about 5 pages in. The game compressed to 931mb just like it should. However, I get sound effects, just no music, even if I try and raise and lower the music volume in the game, still no music.

Anyone else have this issue?

set to regioncode overide on and the next three settings on regionfree. that shuld sort it out...

also more to the point, the us version of pursuit force has checkpoints and can be used with runumd, so is there a seperate ripkit for that. i doubt its compatible with eu version. any1?
