I like to build arcade cabinets and just recently finished my mortal kombat cab with mk1-4 in it. I wanted to make a cabinet dedicated to shooting games but have found the pcb boards to be extremely rare and expensive. solution, most of the best arcade shooters were ported to the psx or ps2. I would like to run time crisis series and other shooter games off of my ps2 with out swapping out discs in the cab. one of my main questions is will the guncon 2 have all the controls i will need to launch games off of the ps2 or will i still need a controller hooked up? also does this make sense to anyone else? Im knew to loading games off of a ps2 and found this site and thought it was a great idea for my dilema.

As long as those games will launch from HDloader, I think you're in good shape.
The GunCon2 has a D-pad on the rear, and a few buttons on the side so that should be all you need hopefully, but I don't have one myself. Also, I read it only works with Namco games. Good luck on the new cabinet.

you won't be able to run any ps1 games this way, but the guncon should work fine for any ps2 shooters you plan to use.

Great Project! You Should have no problems with the in game controls for Time Crisis Series or Crisis Zone, Vampire Night, End Game, Point Blank not just Namco Games, you will need to be able to move the cursor and select X on the HD loader software…. Gcon 2 Gun will do all this and work on any games you have.....
But if you are going to the trouble of making a cabinet I would also stick a foot pedal on it for TC and get a good weight gun with recoil effect, the recoil really makes the games! I’m something of an arcade shooting nut (well not a nut ) but I think they are great games Time Crisis type games was the reason I switched for playing games on PC’s to playstations… the Gcon-Gcon 2 guns are Very accurate (they also allow 2 point screen calibration) and have the D –pad and X buttons……. but the recoil effect guns are more fun…would be cool if you could interface an original gun from the arcade…can you not just mount a D pad and single X button into the cabinet as-well (break apart a controller) allowing you the freedom to choose the best gun you can get
How long will it take to make this, and how much do you reckon it will cost in the end? Do you sell these cabinets in the end ???
