Hey everyone, new here, so don't be too harsh eh? :)

I've been trying like a fool all night to get this wad installer thing working on my wii so I can get me some free wiiware n such.

I'm using the twilight princess hack, and I'm coming up against a problem just after i talk to that chap outside link's house.

I've taken the installer, put it on my SD card, which is formatted in FAT32 (whatever that means), made a file called "wad" and put my wad file in there.
I've renamed my wad installer boot.elf and put it in the root folder, but theres another file aswell, and I've no idea what to do with this one, its called wad-installer.dol, should I be renaming this one too?

Anyways, it seems to be working well, I talk to this guy, screen goes black, white writing scrolls down for a short time, then after numerous "start cluster = 0000" and a "start cluster = 0fff", I'm finally presented with a section of code that says...

"FAT_ReadFile(boot.elf) failed with error -1
## No elf image at address 90100000
DOL image detected?
Loading binary file..."

I don't know what this is about, and would appreciate any help that anyone could offer.

Cheers!

The card needs to be formatted in FAT (also called FAT16), NOT(!) FAT32!

Hopefully I can help you out. I was having the same problem. I tried formating in Vista, Xp and use few different SD card, and I was still getting that error message. When I did it for my friend, it worked perfectly.

So pretty much I made sure my Wii has the same thing my friend has (oh don't worry about modchip, he has Wiikey, I have Wiinja, doesn't matter).

the only difference between my wii and his wii was that he went to the Wii Channels, and downloaded the 2 free downloads. So that's what I did. Went into Wii Channels, and download/install the 2 free wii channel download.

than did the install...and works perfectly. Don't know if it was the 2 installs I did, but it worked for me.
