Hello Everyone and Anyone. I am Excited to be hacking the next console in the line-up. So far it's been the Ps1, Dreamcast, Ps2, Xbox over the years and now the Wii.

I am a newbie to the Wii (just started reading about Wii hacking last week). After reading I disassembled my Wii (how many damn screws do they really need... Yeash) and I saw that it said d2c on it. I did a little more reading and decided on the new D2PRO9 on a pre-soldered on a Wiiclip V4C-9 from canadamods.ca. I didn't want to solder on the board because I have done several mods in the past and I screwed up one. It was so hard to find a Wii I didn't want to chance messing up this one.

Now for my question (after all this rambling, sorry I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself to my new scene).

It says on canadamods.ca:

"This works only with D2C and D2C2 chipset. FIRMWARE IS DIFFERENT VERSION THAN THE NORMAL 1.1b and is compatible with the d2c2."

Why is it different? Is this a custom thing from canadamods that will impead me from future D2PRO9 updates. http://www.d2pro.com doesn't say anything about any different Firmware versions?

Also should I assume this come preloaded with the firmware. I ask this because back in my Xbox days the modchips came without firmware. I am just trying to decide if I need to buy the "D2PROG", or if I can just update it from DVD's later.

Thanks for any help guys. I look forward to future Wii Mods and Wii Moding discussions.

it will come with 1.1 firmware installed on the chip.
you will need a programmer to update in the future the new d2pro9 for the d2c2 drives, dvd upgrade is not available yet on the new d2pro9 d2c2.

Does this mean I have the d2c2 Wii? The top of the IC chip only said d2c on it.

If I do have a d2c drive can I upgrade that with just a DVD. Or does the Wiiclip cause some sort of a problem?

Thanks for the uber quick reply didineedthis. Not bad for 1:36 am on a work week. At least it is in minnesota.
