View Full Version : Creator Banned? Are these homebrew apps safe to use?

I never really cared about emulators or playing tetris with my Wiimote, the one homebrew tool I always wanted was a tool to copy my saved game data to a SD card. The Wii's internal copy feature is completely useless and primitive, it dosen't even have an overwrite option, and about 75% of my games are copy protected, making this option even more useless. At least with my PS2/Xbox360/etc if a save is copy protected I can still take out the memorycard/harddrive and plug it into another console, but I can't with the Wii.

I recently ran into a set of such tools, one to copy miis, one to put copied miis back on the wii, one to copy wii saves, and one to put wii saves back onto the wii.

However, while the official Wii homebrew site allows mentioning these tools, they have forbid any discussion about them and the creator was banned.

Anyone have any idea why the creator was banned?

Anyone ever used these tools before?

Are they safe?

Everyone seemed more interested in creating homebrew minigames, emulators, and iso loaders, so it was rare that finally somebody created a tool I was actually looking for, but now this happened, so I doubt theres much of a chance of somebody else coming along and making such a tool as well.

Here are the apps in question:

It is because of a clash of interests between the WiiBrew community and Waninkoko. They do not approve of Waninkoko's tools of pirates (WAD installer etc ). All tools created by him are also flagged.

Flagged? In what way?

Would the homebrew channel refuse to run them?

Nope they will run fine. It's that they dont condone the tools and no support will be given by them.
