I recently got a D2PRO9 that I thought had the newest firmware allowing DVD upgrade. As it turns out, the chip has the old firmware. Rather than paying $35 for a D2PROG which I will only use once, I thought I would see if anyone would let me "borrow" theirs to load the new firmware and make my chip DVD upgradeable. I would compensate for any shipping plus a few extra dollars. Thanks.

in all honesty, I dont think anyone would send merchandise to a complete stranger hundreds of miles away to supposedly "borrow". would you? I surely wouldnt. ;) but good luck bud.

it's worth a try before dropping another 35 bucks for a firmware that should've come on the chip already.

yeah dude i feel yah, i just went through the same thing. It does paying the extra 35 bucks, during a week later, when i find out i need to update the firmware, as the drive is pretty much dead with the chip on it without the latest. But then after buying it i figured what the hell now i don't have to burn a CD for the latest firmware.
EDIT: Well it looks like i wont probably be needing the adapter once i use it once. I will sell it once i use it, 25 shipped, payment via PayPal. (10 bucks less then what i got it for) USA Only, MSG/or post if anyones interested.

get your self a programmer , it might come in handy in the future, if not you can always sell it on ,but it might be worth keeping ,you never know what nintendo will do next.

I second didineedthis.
The d2prog may come in handy in future.
The dvd upgrade feature does not have full control of the chip.
That is, the Actel chip.
Think Actel as the OS and the SPI as the program or application software.
