Ok so I got a pre soldered d2c chip with a wii key for it. I simply click down on the OEM d2c chip and make sure its on there tight. I have applied all of the papers and put the cardboard piece on. Now here is where it gets wierd. When I power on the console I get a flash from the red and green leds. When I put a retail disc in it spins up and the green LED starts to flash as it loads up the game. The retail games will load with no issue. When I put a backup disc in, HP DVD-R burned at 4x and a Sony DVD+R also burned at 4x with the same game it spins but neither of the LEDs come on. It is my understanding that the red light should come on and load the injection and then the green should light up. I can move the wii clip around and get the red light to come on but the clip is not on tight. Is this an issue with the chip and clip? Im confused because retail games work fine and LED1 goes to town when a retail is in. Any help would be much appreciated.

This is the first time i have read about someone having an issue with wii-clip being too wiggley. If it moves too much and your sure that is your only issue, trying using some sort of conductivity-proof tape to hold it down.;)

if the clip is loose its no good, it should fit snug .

Agree with didineedthis. If it's loose you should get it exchanged. I hate using tape or glue because that still may move over time. Unless it's that epoxy stuff you find on XBOX drives -- that stuff is like rock solid. Removing epoxy is also a pain though.

So in theory when the chip is seated snug in its place LED 2 (red) should stay lit every time a disc is placed in the drive and led 1 (green) should be lit when the disc is being read? I ordered a new clip and chip so hopefully that will resolve the issue.
